Sand Tarp is a Multiplayer map for Halo 3. A remade version of Sandtrap, with the only difference being the absence of the Elephants in Sand Tarp. Also, the attacker's and defender's bases are switched, and the defenders will be at the Albatross so that the attackers don't have to pull the flag out from the "impenetrable" crypt. It was due to be released on September 16th, 2008, but was being delayed until the 23rd.
As a note, the Elephants are not removable through Forge, so obtaining this variant of Sandtrap requires playing the map and saving it, or taking it off a fileshare (or downloading it from below).
Trivia
- In addition to the loss of an Elephant at each base, an additional Machine Gun Turret has been placed near each base, and a Warthog at each base has been replaced by a Prowler.
- Curiously, Sand Tarp's name is in all capital letters in Halo 3. This is because the words "Sandtrap" and "Sand Tarp" look similar and the capitalization would show a better contrast between the two, so players don't confuse them.
- The name is most likely a reference to the popular internet meme "It's a trap!" and it's variant "It's a tarp!"
