Runite ore is a type of ore that can be obtained through the Mining skill in various places throughout RuneScape by mining a Runite rock. It can be smelted with 8 heaps of coal through the Smithing skill to form a runite bar, which can then be smithed into various weapons and armour. Mining runite can be very profitable, as each ore is worth more than a whole inventory of yew logs, and takes less space and time as well. However, the areas in which this ore spawns can be dangerous. But in Fremennik isles, it is much safer to mine runite ore considering nothing can attack you while mining. Ice trolls will attack you as you make run through them to cross the bride, but they will do little harm if you have "Protect From Melee." Runite ore can be mined with a Mining level of 85 or higher, granting 125 Mining experience. After being mined, runite ore takes between 12.5 and 25 minutes to respawn. Due to this length of time, nearly all players who mine runite prefer to switch worlds rather than wait for it to respawn. It is recommended not to hop to busy servers, as the rocks may be mined already.
Runite ore can be used to make the strongest type of non-degradable armour in free-to-play. It is the rarest of all standard ores, as only 9 rocks can be found on members' servers and 2 on free-to-play servers, and is the most valuable ore in RuneScape.
Rune is also considered a delicacy to dragons, as discovered in the Varrock Museum.
Runite ore, like all other mined rocks, respawns at a rate directly proportional to the number of people in the rock's RuneScape world. If the world is empty, the ore respawns in 25 minutes; if it is full (with 2000 players), it respawns in 12.5 minutes. Thus the respawn rate of runite ore is minutes, where x is the number of players in the world.
A table of respawn rates is given below.
