Runescape

Up to date as of February 07, 2010

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

The Rune platebody is a platebody made of runite (metal). Statisically, it is the best melee chest armour available for non-members. It used to be considered the best platebody made with conventional metals in both f2p and p2p, but was surpassed with the release of the While Guthix Sleeps quest and the Dragon platebody. This item can be bought from Oziach after completing the Dragon Slayer quest, the Grand Exchange in Varrock, or from other players. Players can make this item with the Smithing skill at level 99 using five Runite bars thereby gaining 375 experience. Players cannot wear this item until they have completed the Dragon Slayer quest and have 40 Defence or above. Non-member players can also obtain rune platebodies from certain high-levelled Revenants in the wilderness. Rune platebodies have the same stats as a sacred clay platebody which can only be used by members. The Hero in East Ardougne has a slightly lighter coloured version of this item, though it cannot be obtained by players.

Treasure trails versions

The Rune platebody (g) and (t) can both be obtained as rewards from Level 3 Treasure trails. They cannot be made through the Smithing skill.

Players can't trim armour. Players throughout Runescape have claimed to be able to trim armour to get the unsuspecting player to hand over their armour for free. This caused many problems and low level players to be devastated. Due to the trading limit, this has become extremely rare.

There are also three versions representing the three major gods of RuneScape, as well as a gold gilded version. These are the Saradomin platebody, the Guthix platebody, the Zamorak platebody, and the gilded platebody.

All the Treasure Trails versions have exactly the same stats as the normal version, but are more rare due to the fact they are only obtained from a Treasure Trail, that free players cannot obtain them, and have to buy them from either a member or the Grand Exchange.

Like all platebodies, it gives a crippling negative bonus to the user's Ranged and Magic stats.

Trivia

  • Before the HD Update, Rune platebodies looked a lot more "bulkier" in terms of its shoulder-pads.
  • Prior to the Personalised Shops update, members could make a profit by buying the platebody at the Blast Furnace Armour Store for 45k and then selling them at the Grand Exchange for around 55k. Currently, the Armour Store carries no stock of its own.
  • Currently, a small profit can be made by buying the platebody from Oziach and selling it on the Grand Exchange.
  • Oziach wears a Rune Platebody, although his is bulkier than the kind that players can obtain.
  • Rune Platebodies once cost 83,000 coins in Oziach's shop, but the price was lowered to 65,000 coins.
