Reginald Rothchild^[1] is the Head Scribe of the Capital Wasteland Brotherhood of Steel and usually to be found in the Citadel's labs. A close and trusted advisor to Elder Owyn Lyons, he is one of the few Brotherhood of Steel members who originally accompanied him on his trek across the continent to Washington, DC. He supports Lyons even if he does not necessarily agree with the Elder's views.

Rothchild is also the one in charge of the ongoing efforts to get Liberty Prime operational and publishes regular status reports which can be found at nearly every terminal in the Citadel. Nonetheless, there is no real progress made until Dr. Li joins up with him after her escape from Jefferson Memorial.

During the quest Finding the Garden of Eden the Head Scribe helps you locate a G.E.C.K. by first pointing you to an old Vault-Tec terminal in the Citadel's A-Ring and then telling you about the location of Vault 87.

Rothchild makes a mention to the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel saying they have fallen on hard times.

Notes

• It seems Rothchild's voice actor did not voice him for Broken Steel, or he has overcome some sort of voice problem as he sounds rather different, his new voice is slightly higher in pitch, much like Vault 101's Overseer. A way to observe this is by asking him something that was added via Broken Steel, ("What's happening at the Purifier?") and then asking him something that was there from the beginning ("Can you repair my stuff?").

Reginald Rothchild appears only in Fallout 3.

Bugs

• Rothchild disappears and cannot be found. The quest marker puts him north of Springvale School and east of Big Town.
• Rothchild can get stuck, making the main quest line impossible to continue. This bug is possibly caused by Rothchild clipping into a wall he is leaning against when you speak to him about the vault.
  • A solution to this problem is to find Vault 87 yourself. When you get to the Vault the Missions will complete.
  • You can wait until night when Rothchild will be sleeping in his bed, and then you can talk to him about the vault.
