real-world perspective.

Rode the 600 is the seventh episode of the first season of Star Trek: Swiftfire.

The USS Swiftfire-A gathers with six-hundred Starfleet ships at Starbase 375 in preparation for Operation Return. The fleet is forced to launch early as the Dominion prepares to bring down the minefield at the mouth of the wormhole. Unfortunately the Dominion knows they are coming and a huge fleet intercepts the Federation fleet in a battle where the fate of the Alpha Quadrant rests on the shoulders of six-hundred brave starship crews.

Memorable quotes

"To all ships, this is Captain Sisko. Assume attack formation Delta-2. There’s an old saying, ‘Fortune favours the bold’. I guess we’re about to find out."
Captain Benjamin Sisko to the Federation fleet before the battle.
"So you’re saying the worst case scenario is that we get wiped out by the Dominion reinforcements because we don’t get there in time. The best case scenario is that we’re wiped out holding DS9. So either way this is a one way mission."
"It might have been different if we had the whole force with us, but we don’t. Fortune has a way of evening out. Even the bold will run out of fortune sooner or later."
Ensign Cole and Captain Masters discussing the likely outcome of Operation Return.
