Contents

This article is about the weapon. For the action of "wanding", see Wand (action).

General

A wand is a right handed, projectile weapon that can require one of a variety of Monk, Mesmer, Elementalist, Necromancer, or Ritualist attributes.

Wands are the one-handed alternative to two handed Staff in combination with a left hand Focus Item. The discussion of whether a wand/focus combo or a staff is superior is as old as the game itself: each has its boons and drawbacks.

Rods and scepters are considered wands.

Inherent stats

  • Ranged weapon
  • Minimum damage range: 3-5
  • Maximum damage range: 11-22
  • Damage type: Depends on linked attribute. Possibilities: Cold, Earth, Fire, Lightning, Chaos, Dark, or Holy. (See wand types below for details.)
  • Range: Recurve Bow range (~1.2 aggro circle radii; equivalent to standard casting range; not affected by height, unlike bows)
  • Attack interval: 1.75 seconds
  • Arc size: Small
  • Projectile flight time: ~0.6 seconds at Shortbow range.

Wands with an attribute requirement of 0 have been observed with damage ranges as high as 7-11. Wands with maximum damage from collectors and weaponsmiths always have an attribute requirement of 9.

Upgrades and modifiers

Wands dropped in Nightfall can be upgraded with a Wand Wrapping and an inscription.

Tibia

Up to date as of February 05, 2010
(Redirected to Rods article)

From TibiaWiki

Rods are used only by druids, they deal damage and use a small amount of mana. Sorcerers cannot use rods. They use wands instead.

Rods are One-Handed so they can be used together with a shield, and they fire every turn.

Unlike normal weapons these weapons can fire at distance beyond the user.

Rods cause Death, Earth or Ice damage depending upon which rod is used. A benefit of this, is that every hit causes damage, and the damage is not mitigated by the creature's armor. The drawback, is that some creatures are immune to these types of damage.

Hints

Rods are loot able from a variety of magically-inclined monsters, so (as with any equipment purchase) remember to search around and look for rods sold by players which will be at far lower prices than those on offer by the merchant NPCs.

Use the landscapes of the various areas to your advantage when using rods. The rods which shoot at a distance can be used in different circumstances which will prove advantageous to you, just as paladins use bows and arrows to their advantage. The distance between an enemy and yourself could be the deciding factor in battle as if the monster is unable to attack from afar, you will not be damaged BUT will be damaging the monster at the same time. Employ the tactics of a paladin and run around trees to confuse the enemy while hurling death inducing missiles at them with your Necrotic Rod, and chill your opponents with the rays of the Moonlight Rod - make your own strategies for success!

As rods consume mana when fired, a useful tip is to remember to use this to your advantage if you decide to train your magic level. When a rod is fired on to a creature which is immune to the attack, the mana consumed will still count towards a magic level. In other words, using a Snakebite Rod on a creature which is immune to earth damage, will train your magic level but will not harm the monster. This tactic may sound useless, but pair this with the fact that mana regenerates quick enough for elder druids to repeatedly shoot the monster and not lose (or gain) any mana - this makes for knight-like training. If you wish to use this strategy as an unpromoted druid, then you can expect to slowly lose mana over time as the regeneration times are slower than that of an elder druid, although the strategy is still quite useful. It also makes sense to trap a creature such as a wild (or convinced/summoned) poison spider near a fishing spot and fish whilst you gain magic levels. This strategy however is mainly of use to lower level druids within the regions of level 7-23, as they will most likely be unable to make magic runes for profit due to level restrictions on spells.

Transformers

Up to date as of February 05, 2010
(Redirected to Drop-Test article)

From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki

This article is about the Armada Mini-Con. For the safety test, see for safety reasons.
Drop-Test is a Mini-Con from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps!

Drop-Test is a little unstable. An older Mini-Con, he's loud, brash, violent and generally obnoxious, and prone to reminding the younger mechs of all the hardships his generation went through (never mind the current generation isn't exactly living in luxury now). He thinks himself a tactical genius, and while is is actually good at predicting enemy actions, his countermeasures are invariably awful. He can always be counted on to pick the worst possible plan and bullheadely see it through to its disasterous end.

And he's one of the good guys. Yikes.[1]

Say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, but at least it's a %^&*ing ethos.
Drop-Test/Rod is a redeco of the Mini-Con Sparkplug, transforming into a Lamborghini Diablo. He was sold as part of the first Micron Booster assortment (called "Ver.0") in Japan, in individual, blind-packed boxes so you did not know which Mini-Con you got until you opened the box and opaque black plastic bag inside.
He uses the same mold as Atlas. A retool of the mold is used for Chrome, Synapse and Road Rebel.

Trivia

  • His Japanese name, "Rod", is most likely a shortened version of "Rodimus", as the first three Micron Booster assortment "headliners"123 have names similar to Japanese Autobot leaders/protagonists.123
  • His US bio is inspired by Walter Sobchak, John Goodman's character from The Big Lebowski. The original long-form bio was written by fan Cenate Pruitt for an uncompleted group fan project, then later condensed down to a single paragraph and used (with permission) by Fun Publications.
