Robotics Expert
Fallout 3
requirements: Level 12, Science 50
ranks: 1
benefit: +25% damage to robots and ability to shutdown robots if sneaking up on them
base id: 31DC2

Robotics Expert is a Fallout 3 Perk.

With the Robotics Expert perk, you do an additional 25% damage to any robot. But, even better, sneaking up on a hostile robot undetected and activating it will put that robot into a permanent shutdown state.

Notes

  • You can sometimes disable a Sentry Bot and a Protectron even if it has spotted you.
  • Deactivating a robot will award no experience and will prevent the robot from being accepted as a target in V.A.T.S.. However, the unit can still take damage and destroying one will give the same experience and loot as normal. Every attack on a deactivated robot while sneaking will register as a sneak attack critical regardless of the player's location or level.
  • You can't disable a robot who goes "unconscious" when you try to kill them.
  • Turrets can be deactivated using this perk, as long as they don't spot you.
  • When you disable a Sentry Bot, it will continually repeat its "shutdown" animation. But if they are alarmed while deactivating, they'll freeze in place.
  • In Raven Rock, you can deactivate any of President Eden's eye intercoms. This has no real benefit, but it's still quite amusing.
  • This perk is incredibly useful on Very Hard. If you are wearing Chinese Stealth Armor and have the Silent Running perk, raiding robot-filled places such as the National Guard Depot and Fort Constantine becomes a breeze.
