The Robin hood hat requires level 40 Ranged to wear and can be obtained by completing level 3 Treasure Trails, or from other players. The Robin Hood hat also gives the third highest ranged Attack bonus for the helm slot among non-degradable armour. It is surpassed only by the 3rd age range coif and an Armadyl helmet. Morrigan's coif has better stats as well but degrades.

After the Behind the Scenes announcement for March 2007, which stated "hold on to your Robin Hood hats", many players misinterpreted this and thought the hats would become discontinued. After this, prices skyrocketed briefly before people realised that the hats would not be discontinued.

Trivia

• A non-player character, Robin, wears this hat. The hat is based on the English folklore hero Robin Hood.
• The Robin hood hat is only valued at 180 coins at a general store, yet it is a rare level 3 clue reward.
• After the trade limit was set and drop trading wasn't possible, players could sell a Robin Hood Hat to the general store for 180 coins and buy for roughly the same price whilst the street value was 2-3M. This was a popular way of transferring money between accounts until Jagex fixed it.
• When performing the Freeze and Melt Emote (unlocked from 2008 Christmas event and 2009 'A Christmas Warble') looking at the character from the side a little bit of the orange feather will appear to be sticking out.
• It may also interest one to know that Sparky in Marion's pub wears one of these. He also has an arrow for a crutch. (located in Ardougne).
• The feather is much bigger when worn, than it's in the inventory slot
