Summary

After years of aimless wandering following his last encounter with the Doctor, Mortimus' TARDIS becomes ensnared in a dimensional rift and is pulled into an alternate reality. Unfortunately, the transference causes massive damage to the ship as it crash-lands in a scrapyard in the Shoreditch area of London, England in the year 1963. As well as causing significant damage to the TARDIS, the crash also seriously wounds Mortimus and he is forced to regenerate in order to survive.

In his post-regenerative state, Mortimus stumbles out of his TARDIS and collapses to the floor as Group Captain Ian Gilmore and a contingent from the Royal Air Forces' Intrusion Countermeasures Group arrive to investigate reports of a UFO crash landing in the area. Following a brief stay in hospital, Mortimus makes a complete recovery and is able to effect repairs to his TARDIS using RAF resources after convincing Gilmore that he is a scientist who would be able to get the "UFO" to reveal its secrets.

Despite conducting patchwork repairs to the TARDIS, Mortimus is unable to make any progress with building a new directional unit and is forced to resume wandering in this new, alternate dimension, far from his people and homeworld.
