Reddup is a raider in The Pitt in the year 2277.

He is a former slave who fought his way through the arena. He is one of only three NPCs to have achieved this; the others are Gruber and Squill.

Interactions with the player character

Main article: Into the Pitt

If you decide not to go to the Pitt disguised as a slave and instead tell the raiders you wish to join them or you kill Mex and the other guards, an alternate intro occurs in which he will lead the "Welcoming committee". This means he will beat the player, take their equipment, and leave them with nothing but a slave outfit and their concealed weapon (if you had one) laying there to be woken up by Midea.

After you win your freedom, you can challenge him to a rematch and get your revenge. This will initiate a one-on-one shootout between the player and Reddup; the other Pitt Raiders do not participate (at Reddup's request) and will not become hostile if you kill him.

Behind the scenes

Reddup's name is based on "red up," a Pittsburgh slang expression meaning "tidy up", or "clean up", a term which may derive from the English expression "redd up", found in works such as 'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte.
