Rachel "Ray" Defwydd was a female mechanic and motorcycle enthusiast in 1959 Wales.
She was in love with Billy, a professional mechanic and part-time singer at a Welsh holiday camp in Shangri-La. However, her love for him turned out to be unrequited, as he fell in love with the Chimeron Queen, Delta.
Despite this she provided valuable assistance for the the Doctor during his confrontation with the evil Gavrok, leader of the ruthless Bannermen, providing him with transport on a motorbike as he sought to warn Delta about Gavrok's arrival and subsequently helped get her to safety when the Bannermen attacked. (DW: Delta and the Bannermen)
Ray was originally created with the intention that she would replace Mel as a companion due to rumours that Bonnie Langford was leaving the show, but filming and airing schedules meant that Mel actually departed in Dragonfire and was replaced by Ace. (BBC DVD: Survival)

Ray is the sun on Bear in the Big Blue House. He debuted in the second season episode "All Weather Bear."
Whereas Bear talks with Luna every night before going to bed, Bear is only occasionally seen talking with Ray. They are still very good friends, though. Like Luna, Ray his own song, "Good Morning."
Ray states that his outlook is always sunny. He sometimes talks with Bear about what the weather is going to be like, and the two often share opening thoughts for the day.
Ray is seen much more often in the fourth season of the show, even when Bear isn't talking to him. His appearance is changed as well, giving him eyes and generally looking like a male version of Luna. He is also added to the opening and closing sequences.

Ray was a UNSC officer serving on the bridge of an unknown ship that was destroyed by a Covenant Plasma Torpedo. He and the other bridge members transmitted their goodbyes during the sixty seconds it took for the torpedo to burn through the hull plating after it impacted. He died along with the entire 130-person crew of the ship. He left behind his wife and his then-unborn son, the latter of which was eight months in development.[1]

Ray was a Force technique used by Jedi skilled in energy manipulation. By managing this power, a Jedi could turn small amounts of nearby matter into energy that could be controlled. With this energy, a Jedi could block attacks from blaster bolts.
Ray could also be employed to stop lightsaber attacks, although stopping a fast-moving lightsaber at close range could be highly dangerous and would most likely fail. Using another lightsaber instead was generally a more desirable option. Only experienced Jedi could use ray effectively.
Energy collected from this ability would dissipate if used to absorb too much energy, disappearing in the form of a flash of heat.
