Druids believed that ravens acted as the eyes of Cailleach. Leonard De Vries of the British Institute of Druidic Studies, a modern day worshipper of Cailleach kept a raven in his home.

Cessair, who impersonated Cailleach during her time on Earth, had an affinity with ravens, many of whom perched ominously on the TARDIS after it had landed there. (DW: The Stones of Blood

The Ravens were a civilization of alien humanoid lifeforms that originated somewhere outside of the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Their name was given to them by fearful space travelers who fell victim to attacks by the creatures in the 22nd and 23rd centuries.

No physical or recorded proof of the Ravens' existence was ever found until the 2260s when the USS Enterprise was attacked by Ravens that had subsumed a Frenni crew aboard a caravan of trading starships. Following this encounter, the Enterprise did laboratory analysis of Raven corpses found in space after the attack.

The average members of the Raven species have two distinct stages of development, as young hatchlings that respond to direct control from a mother creature, and later as independent beings after going through a metamorphosis when they ingest brain tissue from another sentient lifeform. At this stage of their lives, Ravens display personality traits from the subsumed brain's previous owner, but are still sensitive to the needs of the mother creature. (Redirected to Raven-Symoné article)

From Muppet Wiki

Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman (b. 1985) became famous at the age of four as Olivia Kendall on The Cosby Show, filling the show's cute-toddler gap as actress Keshia Knight Pulliam (Rudy Huxtable) aged out of that role. As a teenager, she starred in the popular Disney Channel series That's So Raven which ran from 2002 to 2006, and was a member of the Cheetah Girls. Choosing to be credited simply as Raven around the time of That's So Raven, she later decided to reinstate the "Symoné."

Raven starred as Charisse Dolittle in the Creature Shop film Dr. Dolittle and its sequels Dr. Dolittle 2 and Dr. Dolittle 3.

Ravens are charmable animals native to Sacnoth Valley.

Locations

The two possible spawn points of Ravens

Notes

  • There are only two places to charm a Raven, both in in Sacnoth Valley (see map):
    • On an inaccessible hilltop near Dalada Uplands. Although you can't reach it, you can still get in range to charm it when it is close to the edge of the hill.
    • Near the center of the southern edge of the zone. The nearby enemies will not attack the raven, making it easy to clear the area before charming it. If the raven does die, rezone at Rragar's Menagerie and try again.
  • The Raven is one of four pets that appear to fly when they move.
  • Ravens deal piercing damage unless evolved to dire, in which case they deal slashing damage.

Runescape

Up to date as of February 07, 2010

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

A Raven is a pet a player may have at level 50 Summoning. Ravens have to be hatched from a Raven egg by using the egg on an incubator located in any pet shop.

Ravens have two growth stages, unlike god birds which have three. Raven chicks are fed on Ground fishing bait while adults will eat Fishing bait.

Raven eggs are found in Bird's nests randomly obtained during Woodcutting, found in nests obtained by Managing Miscellania minigame and the Evil tree Distraction and Diversion. They cannot be found in nests obtained in exchange from Wyson the gardener for Mole skin or Mole claws.

There are 6 different raven colours,[1] but getting a raven is quite rare and not every colour is documented. Known colours are black, red, blue, and grey.

Dialogue

Ravens can be understood at 60 Summoning.

Trivia

  • The adult raven's seeming depression is a reference to poem, The Raven, by Edgar Allan Poe, as is the line "Quoth I, 'nevermore!'".
  • The quote 'Never mind! Siiiigh...' could be a reference to the character Raven from the children's TV show Teen Titans who also seems morbidly depressed.
  • The adult bird's morbid depression could have resulted from you always saying "In a moment", when it wanted to play as a chick.
  • Another explanation of the depression may be a reference to the self-proclaimed emo character in the infamously bad fanfiction "My Immortal" - Said character was called "Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way".

History

The Nightsister Charal had the ability to turn into a raven, among other guises, thanks to her Force-sensitive ring. In 1.5 ABY, she failed her liege, King Terak, for the last time, so he seized her ring after she had changed to her raven form.

Terak placed Charal's ring on his necklace, and later in battle it was struck by a rock from the Ewok Wicket Warrick's sling. The ring's power overtook Terak, and turned him into stone. The ring was seemingly destroyed as well, and Charal flew off into the forest, trapped in her raven form.

Uses of raven in names

Behind the scenes

  • The end credits of The Battle for Endor identifies Charal's bird form as being performed by a raven.
  • Presumably, the raven is an animal found on Endor, as Charal assumedly wanted to blend in with native wildlife. Less likely, it might be an animal from her homeworld Dathomir.

Appearances

  • Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (First appearance)
