Rizzo (in the coat) and the rats in episode 503 of The Muppet Show.

The Rats were often seen scuttling around the Muppet Theater on The Muppet Show. Their unofficial leader is Rizzo the Rat.

The first Muppet rats were built out of plastic bottles by Don Sahlin for the 1972 special The Muppet Musicians of Bremen. Those puppets were used later for The Muppet Show. They were redesigned and refurbished for future use.

A dead rat in Crow's Nest.

Rats are a species of rodent native to Earth, with the first "true" rats originating in Asia.

They are distinguished from mice in their larger size and are often kept as pets or used for scientific study. Rats originally ate plants, but they can eat many things such as meat (mostly carcasses or each other) and garbage. Rats usually have from 5 to 10 offspring in each pregnancy, which is one of the reasons their population grows so fast.

Appearances

Dead rats in Rat's Nest.

Rats appear on most of the Campaign levels set on Earth, most notably Crow's Nest, as well as the Multiplayer map Rat's Nest in Halo 3, to tie in with the map, though all the rats found on Rat's Nest are already dead, likely due to the fact that they would appear on radar and confuse the players.

In Crow's Nest, it is possible to kill the rats, and when killed they will roll around in a prone form. When they are shot at or encountered they will squeal characteristically and will appear as small yellow dots on your motion tracker.

Rats have been noticed around the butchered area of the barracks on Crow's Nest, most likely feeding on the dead Marines.

Runescape

(Redirected to Rat article)

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Rats are small animals which can be found almost anywhere. They are best found inside the Lumbridge Castle (Floor one). Their tails are most commonly used for the completion of The 'Witches Potion' quest. They're also one of the weakest creatures on runescape.

Cats

Players who have a cat or a kitten can tell it to chase vermin, in which case it will try to attack any rat in range. Also, if you have a Rat pole, a rat will be added to it each time a rat is caught by your cat.

100% Drops

Other drops

A player has to be doing the quest to even get these drops and a player can only have one of each at a time. (Except for the tail) l

Trivia

The Class Pet
  • The examine text is based on the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett, who goes into detail describing the ways dwarves eat rats.
  • A Rat bone, which differs from the usual bones dropped by rats, are rare drops used in the Rag and Bone Man quest. This bone cannot be buried. Surprisingly, rats in the Stronghold of Security drop bones, while rats everywhere else in RuneScape do not. It is unknown if Jagex meant for this to happen or if this is a glitch.
  • There is a rat in Surprise Exam!, however it is the "class pet" and you cannot attack it.
  • Rats do not appear on the minimap.
  • Rats are, perhaps, one of the weakest monsters in RuneScape, along with the level 1 Spider.
  • The rats in the Stronghold of Security are one of the weakest monsters to drop bones. Strangely enough, rats in other places do not drop bones.

Glitches

When attacking a rat and the game has lagged, the rat's health bar shows that it was dead. However, the rat is still alive. The rat stayed alive until attacked again, when it immediately died.

(this has happened more than once, it's happened to me in my experience at Brother Galahad's house)
