From Grand Theft Wiki

The Ranch logo.

Ranch is a street fashion clothing store that appears in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto IV. The company was founded in 1888, with stores located in Downtown, Vice City, Rodeo, Los Santos, and multiple stores throughout Liberty City. Advertisements for Ranch also appear in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and in Hotring Racers. It appears that the Ranch store chain supplies southern, rodeo- style clothing (clothing such as Blue Jeans, Cowboy Hats, Chaps, Flannel Shirts, etc.). In GTA IV, Ranch is featured in the in-game website www.peepthatshit.com under the "Street Fashion" shopping section. In The Ballad of Gay Tony, Gay Tony's apartment is located above the Suffolk branch.

DHARMA Ranch Composite is a salad dressing and one of the many DHARMA-branded food items found in the Swan pantry. It apparently has an unnaturally long shelf life - meaning that it does not need to be refrigerated after opening. It can keep up to seven years at room temperature (according to the label). ("One of Them") Real-life ranch dressing has a buttermilk or sour cream flavor and the consistency of mayonnaise.

A jar of it was used for target practice by Locke and Michael when Locke was teaching him how to shoot.("The 23rd Psalm") Another jar was stolen by Hurley for his food stash which was later found by Sawyer. ("One of Them")

Trivia

  • During Comic-Con 2008's Lost panel, hosts Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse gave a DHARMA Ranch Composite jar to a questioner.
  • Ranch Dressing was invented in 1954 by Steve Henson of Hidden Valley Ranch in California. Hensen and his wife Gayle ran a "dude ranch" near Santa Barbara and served the dressing to their guests. Hensen sold his rights to the dressing in 1972 for 8 million dollars.
