Rad Away: Misc

Up to date as of February 01, 2010

From The Vault

Rad Away is an intravenous chemical solution that bonds with radiation particles and passes them through your system. It takes time to work, and is also a potent diuretic. It cannot be used to keep away radiation when entering radioactive areas like Rad-X, but instead is used after receiving radiation to rid yourself of some of it.

It has several adverse effects, most notably headaches and stomach pains.

Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics

After 4 Hours:

In Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics, interestingly Rad Away can be addictive. It takes full effect only after 4 hours.

Rad Away is also one of these games' higher-value items, and since you'll find far more than you'll ever realistically use, it is very good for making money.

  • Rad Away is needed for the Help Charlie unmarked quest in Fallout 2

Fallout 3

In Fallout 3, Rad Away is no longer addictive. This item looks a bit like a blood pack. It can be found in almost every medical or science facility and can often be found in first aid kits that hang on walls or are kept on shelves. It can also be bought from a variety of doctors in the Capital Wasteland.

  • Rad Away has a slight glow, making it easier to find in the dark, and indoors (not as strong a glow as a Nuka-Cola Quantum though). There is also a readable label marked "Rad Away" written on it. This makes it easier to distinguish from a blood pack.
  • Ironically, Rad Away can also occasionally be found on ghouls.

Rad Away appears in Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3 and Fallout Tactics.
