Rachel Gilman was a female human born in New York City circa 2301. (SCE eBook: Ishtar Rising, Book One) She was the daughter of Eva Gilman. (SCE eBook: Creative Couplings, Book Two)

She attended Columbia University in New York City, and was a member of the school's track team. In 2321, when the Columbia track team travelled to Starfleet Academy for a meet, she met Cadet David Gold. The two wagered a home-cooked meal on the outcome of the competition, which Columbia won in an upset. After Gold set fire to his dorm attempting to pay off the bet, Gilman offered instead to cook for him. The two thereafter became romantically involved, and were married in 2322. The two had six children together.(SCE eBook: Breakdowns)

In 2323, Gilman became a Rabbi, and started a teaching career. (SCE eBook: Breakdowns) As of 2376, she taught at Stern College in New York City. (SCE eBook: The Belly of the Beast) One of her most popular classes was on intercultural studies, which provided her insight into Klingon rules of ettiquette. (SCE eBook: Breakdowns) This background served her well when, in late 2376, she was the officiating clergyperson at the first Jewish-Klingon wedding. (SCE eBook: Creative Couplings)

In an alternate universe accessed by an interdimensional Androssi device, Gilman was killed in a shuttle accident in 2356, leaving Gold a widower. (SCE eBook: Lost Time)
