Raccoons are rodents indigenous to many of Gielinor's forests. Before the addition of Summoning they could not be interacted with and served only as scenery, much like squirrels. With level 27 Hunter and level 80 summoning, it is now possible to catch baby raccoons using a box trap.

When caught, raccoons become pets, which can be raised and fed by players. When caught, a baby raccoon is obtained giving 100 Hunter experience; no bait is needed.

With the addition of new pet colours, raccoons were added to several more areas, and are now much more common in Misthalin and Asgarnia.
