The Rabanastre Watch is a "friendly" NPC that randomly spawns in the Galtea Downs in the Dalmasca Westersand and the Yardang Labyrinth area of the Dalmasca Estersand.

As a friendly target, it triggers the "Ally:" Gambits and cannot be targeted by enemy-only Technicks. It does not have a Bestiary entry, nor does it provide EXP or LP if killed. The watch are able to kill enemies, and if you are low on health, they will throw a potion or two your way. Early in the game they make traveling the different parts of the desert easier for a weak party by clearing the path, though later in the game, they are more annoyances by eliminating the enemies needed for a chain before you get there.

As their name suggests, the Rabanastre Watch are charged with the protection of the areas around the Dalmascan capital of Rabanastre.

It is worth noting that all Rabanastre Watch members are Bangaa. Although this does not seem immediately peculiar (Bangaa are quite common in Dalmasca), Dalmasca is under the occupation of the Archadian Empire for the entirety of the game (the ending sequence after the Battle above Rabanastre not included), and it is seen that non-Hume races are mistreated and oppressed under Archadian rule, making it hard for them to achieve any sort of high status, particularly one as important is this.

It is presumable, therefore, that the Rabanastre Watch is in no way connected to the Archadian administration, more a militia than an official watch. As such, it is possible that some of them are Resistance members, though none of this has any real relevance to gameplay.

Trial Mode

Rabanastre Watches are fought during Stage 60, alongside Monid and Bangaa Hunters.
