The Qactuar is a fiend from Final Fantasy X, once Cactuars that journeyed from their home on the Sanubia Sands to the Thunder Plains. According to a book in the Bilghen Travel Agency in the Thunder Plains, the Qactuars, because they began to mischievously torture passers-by, were sealed in stones by High Summoner Gandof. The Gandof Thunder Plains were named after him in respect for his achievement.

But once Tidus examines one of these stones scattered throughout the plains, he undid the seal on the stones, releasing the Qactuar which would thereafter be randomly encountered. The more stones are activated, the bigger chance there is for more Qactuars to appear. Defeating the Qactuar, and especially Overkilling them, will cause them to drop good weapons and armor for characters.

It is identical to the Cactuar of the Sanubia Sands, only much weaker; however, it still has the same tendency to run away from the battle and also uses the 1000 Needles attack.

The Qactuar Stones are part of a side-quest to acquire all of the Celestial Weapons in the game. One at a time, the stones will randomly glow and by examining three of them a Qactuar ghost will appear in the southern section of the plains. Following it will reveal the location of Kimahri's Spirit Lance.
