Pyrefiend: Misc

Runescape

Up to date as of February 07, 2010

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Pyrefiends are Slayer monsters that require level 30 Slayer to kill. They are the weaker elemental cousin of the Waterfiend, but stronger than then SOME Icefiends except the ones at Ghorrock Fortress. Also, they have very similar drops to those of Lesser Demons and Harpie bug swarms. The death animation of pyrefiends was greatly sped up as of 9 November 2009.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The Pyrefiend's attack is a magic-based melee form that hits a maximum of 5 damage. This means that its accuracy is based on your magic defence, so it is highly recommended that you wear dragonhides or other Ranged armour so you take little damage from them. (Note that Protect from magic does not nullify its attack but Protect from melee does). It's also recommended that you either Melee or Range. The rocks on the western end of the room that used to be used for safe spots have been removed.

Like most fire-based enemies, Pyrefiends are vulnerable to water-based spells. It has been confirmed that killing pyrefiends in souls wars does in fact count towards the slayer assignment 's total kills.
