Processional Way
General information

Jedi Temple; rebuilt along with the New Jedi Temple

Jedi Order; later the New Jedi Order

The Processional Way was the main boulevard leading from the Temple Precinct to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. It was decorated with statues of famous Jedi. A large landing pad served as the beginning of the ceremonial road.

The Processional Way terminated in a large, ceremonial staircase leading up to the formal entrance to the Temple. The stairs were crowned with statues of the Four Masters who founded the Jedi Temple some 4,000 years before the rise of the Empire.

After the Sacking of Coruscant, and the destruction of the Temple, the Processional Way was destroyed, the statues being tossed down in the bombardment. It would later be rebuilt, with the stairs being crowned by massive pylons.

With most of the Precinct hidden under newer construction, the new Processional Way was built in bridge form.

After the Operation: Knightfall, a landing platform for larger Imperial ships was erected in front of the massive entrance pylons. Directly in front of the stairs, debris had been laid down to block off all entrance into the Temple besides the landing platform.

Although destroyed by the Yuuzhan Vong, the Jedi Temple was reconstructed during the Second Galactic Civil War, including the Procession and the Temple Precinct. However, the stairs up to the Temple were no longer crowned with statues of the Four Masters. Jacen Solo would walk down the procession, and use one of his unique Force talents to slow the Millennium Falcon's rapid entry through the atmosphere. In 43 ABY Jysella Horn fled the Temple after succumbing to Force Psychosis, running down the street, only to be arrested by Galactic Alliance Security Forces.

When the One Sith overthrew the New Jedi Order, the Coruscant Temple was converted into the Temple of the Sith. The Processional way was built upward, now a bridge, to compete with the rising Coruscant landscape. The bridge terminated atop the buried Temple Ziggurat and led to the simple entrance of the Sith Pyramid.
