From EQ2i, the EverQuest II wiki

A potion is a drink or draft with medicinal or magical powers. Potions can be obtained by several means:

Potion Times and Their Importance

Each potion has a 4 important times associated with it:

  • Casting time - This is the time it takes you to drink the potion (compare it to the time it takes a spell caster to cast a spell).
  • Recovery time - This is how long you have to wait before you can drink another potion from a different category of potions than the one you drank before it.
  • Recast time - This is how long you have to wait until you can drink another potion from the same category of potions than the one you drank before it.
  • Duration - This is maximimum time the potion will last while it is in effect.

Runescape

Up to date as of February 07, 2010

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

This article is about the spot potion that players can obtain from the apothecary in Varrock. For a list of usable potions, see Herblore.
The Potion is an almost useless item given to a player by asking the Apothecary in Varrock for a free sample, with the Apothecary choosing to give it to players roughly half the time and refusing other times. Before Varrock was updated, the potion was available by way of a respawn in the apothecary's building. It has only a few functions in RuneScape; it is a possible item requirement for the Forgettable Tale of a Drunken Dwarf quest, and its other 'use' is to be used on the civilians of Sophanem who are covered in spots, which results in various amusing conversations.

This item is usually kept by collectors who want to collect all sorts of various potions/brews in RuneScape, and as such, the Grand Exchange market price for this product is 201 coins.

The potion does not take up any weight in your inventory, and so can be carried around without tax on your weight.

Imps also drop this item from time to time.

Although a free-to-play item, using anything to the potion would result in "You must be on a members' world to do that."

Trivia

  • If used on the tanner in Varrock, he will say "Er, thanks but no thanks".
  • For a bit of fun, you can try using this on most of the residents of the plague-stricken Sophanem, with varying responses from most of them.
