Pick up a card: Misc

Up to date as of February 05, 2010

From Yu-Gi-Oh!

A card such as Magical Merchant will allow you to "pick up" cards.

Magical Merchant is an example of "Picking up" cards.

"Picking up" a card is not the same as a draw. As it is not considered a draw, it does not work with the effects of Solemn Wishes, or Appropriate. It won't work with the effects of Deck Devastation Virus or Crush Card Virus, either. Also, if required to pick up a card, and you have none left in your Deck to draw, you do not lose at that point. When an effect requires you to pick up cards of a specific type from your deck, you must show your opponent the card to prevent cheating. However if the type of picked up cards don't matter, such as cards picked up by the effect of "Crystal Seer", you don't show what you picked up.
