From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

The Phoenix egg is an item acquired from the Phoenix Lair mini-game. If a player is below 72 Summoning and is lucky enough to stumble upon the egg room, they will be prompted with a question as to whether they would like to kick or clap the egg open. If clap is picked, the player will receive a Phoenix Egg, which can be hatched upon reaching 72 Summoning. When hatched, the player receives a Cute phoenix eggling.

Trivia

  • According to the mother of the egg, the Phoenix, the eggs normally only become fertile when a phoenix dies, to ensure that there is always at least one phoenix. She also says that the chances of an egg becoming magically fertile by itself is extremely rare.
