Philip Martin Brown was born 9th July, 1956 in Manchester and brought up in Barrow on Furness. He appeared in Coronation Street from March to April 2005 as DI Pinnock who investigated the murder of Tommy Harris.
He has built up a long list of credits since the 1970s and one of his first television roles with a regular part in the adaptation of R.F. Delderfield's A Horseman Riding By. Many further roles followed including appearances in Bull Week, Juliet Bravo, The Professionals, The Paradise Club, Minder, regular roles in Wing and a Prayer, City Central and Cutting It and since 2006 a starring role in Waterloo Road as teacher Grantly Budgen.
On the big screen he had a small part in the 1999 film Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp.
