The Phantom Forest (迷いの森, Mayoi-no-mura) is a location in the game Final Fantasy VI. It is where the Phantom Train departs from in order to take the dead to the "other side," where they can live in peace, away from human interference. Sabin, Shadow, and Cyan pass through here on their way to Narshe. The forest contains a Recovery Spring, and there is a path that loops back to the entrance.
When the trio of warriors were on their way to Narshe, they had to pass through the Phantom Forest. Here, they came across a train on a railway track. Cyan was sure that all railroads had been destroyed in the previous battle against the forces of the Gestahlian Empire. Curious to find survivors, Sabin boarded the train despite Cyan's attempts to stop him, not knowing its true nature until it is too late. The three battle the Phantom Train and after defeat, it agrees to allow them to live. The train stops at the bottom of the forest on the World Map.
