Peter Dudley (21st June, 1935 - 20th October, 1983) was a British actor who played several different roles on Coronation Street, firstly a Waiter in 1967, then a Delivery Man in 1968, Dougie Bowker in 1973, jeweller Donald Anderson in 1978, then more famously, as Bert Tilsley from 1979 till shortly before his death in 1983. Peter's stint on the programme was fraught with controversy when, in the early 1980s, he pleaded guilty in court to attempting to pick up men in a public toilet. Though he was let off with a fine and Granada stood by him, he was later charged again with the same offence, though this time he denied it and the jury was unable to reach a verdict.

Peter suffered a stroke and lost the use of his left arm, and a storyline was written to explain the reason why Bert Tilsley's arm did not function properly. in 1983, Peter was written out of the show to allow him to prepare for his importuning re-trial, but suffered a fatal heart attack before it could take place.

Peter's other television credits include The Dustbinmen and Crown Court.
