Omega is one of the two optional bosses of Final Fantasy V. It is a machine and found in the Interdimensional Rift directly after the Save Point. Multiple Omegas can also be found in a room inside the GBA-exclusive Sealed Temple. It is a monster that is visible on the World Map, so it can be avoided. It has two special attacks, called Rocket Punch and Circle. Rocket Punch reduces a character's HP by half and causes confuse. Rocket Punch can be used consecutively however, which negates the effects of confusion. Circle wipes out the party member for the duration of the battle. A victim of Circle cannot be revived by a Phoenix Down or Raise.

Strategy

Omega initially starts the battle with Reflect cast, so to counter that, you should cast dispel on Omega, or use Carbuncle on your party. Note, that with reflect on your party, it would become more difficult to heal.

The basic idea is to equip a Fire Ring to each character in order to absorb Omega's Fire-based attacks. It is also advised to have at least one Bard who knows Romeo's Ballad, since Omega is not immune to Stop, though, it is not stopped for very long. Finally, a character who knows Thundaga Sword and Rapid Fire should be able to take him down in one shot, just make sure not to attack it while charging up, in case he counters with Encircle. Omega is simple after you get past the initial, brutal flurry of attacks.

One could also summon Carbuncle to cast Reflect on the party, then have a Bard sing the Romeo's Ballad constantly and then Dualcast Thundaga onto the party. If possible, equip Masamune to the summoner, and Hermes Sandals on the Bard and Black Mage. Repeat this step and Omega should go down in three turns.
