The TzHaar-ket-om (also known as the Obsidian maul and the Toktz-ket-om) is one of only five mauls in RuneScape, the others being the Meat tenderiser, Granite maul, Gadderhammer and the Barrelchest anchor. Players can buy the Tzhaar-ket-om at the weapons store in the TzHaar City for 75,000 Tokkul, and can be obtained as a rare drop from TzHaar-Ket. This weapon cannot be made using the Crafting skill. Players must have level 60 Strength to wield this weapon.

This weapon is used commonly in player-killing because the only requirement is a Strength level of 60, which made it possible to have a low Combat level while being able to deal high amounts of damage. As a result, people have been making pures, so called "Obby Maulers" which keep their combat level low and allows them to possess a large amount of Strength, causing large damage, without having to gain combat levels primarily from Attack and Defence. These pures are becoming more common in the Bounty worlds initially attacking with Ranged or Magic and then switching to the Tzhaar-ket-om when the target's Hitpoints are low. It is also notable that it is not a good weapon for high level players to train with, because a Dragon battleaxe has the same strength bonus, but is slightly faster and is one handed, although when combined with a Berserker necklace provides raised attack and strength levels. The max hit is currently 64 in Castle wars with castlewars bracelet,Berserker necklace, and Piety.

Trivia

• Though the direct translation would be Obsidian-Large-Maul, the correct translation would most likely be Large-Obsidian-Maul.
• Despite being commonly used among players, this item cannot be lent.
• This weapon is commonly used by P2P PKers because it is commonly used in the process of "Combo Breaking."
• The Obsidian maul used to be held over the shoulder, similar to the Dharok's Greataxe before the graphical update.
