Rise of the Empire era

Jedi, Galactic Republic

Obi-Wan Kenobi, in the widely-known fan-made alternate universe, lived the same life he did, until his master's turn to the dark side. When Qui-Gon Jinn was consumed in darkness, however, Obi-Wan lost his master. As in the main universe, Obi-Wan is trained to become a Jedi Master. In this universe, his master was replaced by Mace Windu. For information on Obi-Wan's life before this change, read Obi-Wan Kenobi until the sixth paragraph of "Early Life".

Qui-Gon's Disappearance (41 BBY)

Together, Obi-Wan and his master would foil the schemes of Qui-Gon's second padawan, Xanatos, catching up with the Dark Jedi on Telos. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon then watched as Xanatos killed himself in a pool of acid, rather than surrender. Months had passed, and another tragedy struck his master. The death of Tahl, Qui-Gon's closest friend, drove him insane.

"Master, you seem troubled. Tahl's death was not your fault. Nothing could be done to stop it."
—Obi-Wan Kenobi

Slowly, as time passed, the bond between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan had begun to break, and it was only a matter of time before Qui-Gon abandoned his apprentice. Wondering what had happened, Obi-Wan apprenticed himself until the Jedi Temple had decided on a new master. Ultimately, Mace Windu, a member of the Jedi Council, was chosen.

At first, the two had difficulty cooperating, but as months passed, the two worked quickly and efficiently. Occasionally, however, Obi-Wan's defiance would prove to be troublesome.

First Battle of Alaris Prime (32 BBY)

During the First Battle of Alaris Prime, Windu and Obi-Wan assisted the Wookiees in building a colony, and fended off an army of droids sent by the Trade Federation. As the war neared an end, the droid army, led by Nute Gunray, invaded the Wookiee Colony, and left Alaris Prime in ruins. However, with the aid of a Wookiee named Attichitcuk, the Wookiee colonists assaulted the army of droids and eventually cleared much of the planet of invaders.

Obi-Wan, ready to risk his life to save Alaris Prime, ventured into a starship left behind by bounty hunters, and launched himself toward the Trade Federation. As he struck down the main power generator, the heavy amount of damage deactivated every droid on Alaris Prime. Returning to a victorious Wookiee colony, Windu congratulated him, and Obi-Wan, prepared to become a Jedi Knight, was knighted at the Jedi Temple. Months later, Obi-Wan would meet his former master once more.

A Grand Reunion (32 BBY)

Obi-Wan, now a fully fledged Jedi Knight, was negotiating with the Jedi Council about apprenticing a padawan learner, when the doors burst open. The figure of an all too familiar face fell to the ground, worry on his face. The council approached the figure, and the Jedi Master spoke with only grief and sorrow in his voice. Qui-Gon, now an old man, explained the plans of Count Dooku, his imprisonment, and the Trade Federation's plan to destroy Naboo. Quickly, the Jedi scurried to prepare for a negotiation with the Federation. The war on Alaris Prime only months earlier turned out to be preparations for the upcoming battle.

Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan caught in an assassination attempt, during the Trade Federation negotiations.

Obi-Wan, seeing Qui-Gon's face for the first time in 9 years, rushed to greet his old master. The two had conversations with one another until dusk. Nearly a week later, they were sent to negotiate with the Trade Federation. The negotiations, however, never took place, and the federation attempted to kill both Jedi. They escaped quickly, and headed to Naboo, where the struggles continued.

After a swift exit, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon began to bond as they once did years ago. Their old friendship was returning, and near the end of the Battle of Theed, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon had protected the current Queen of Naboo, Padmé Amidala against hundreds of battle droids. However, one final task awaited them. The droids battled the forces of Naboo, while the Viceroy of the Trade Federation was captured, but as Naboo's Captain of Security began approaching the Queen's palace, the entrance exploded, and the doors exploded. Deeming the entrance too dangerous, the captain, along with the Queen and the security force, scurried away, and attempted to enter the palace via a different entrance. The two Jedi were left behind to eliminate the threat.

"This wasn't unexpected. Obi-Wan, keep your guard up."

As the smoke cleared, the opponent was revealed to be Darth Maul, the first Sith in many years. Maul, an experienced warrior trained in the arts of the lightsaber, had been sent to eliminate the two Jedi who had caused trouble for the Trade Federation. The three dueled to the death, battling on the outdoor stairwell, the black sky covering the planet. Moving to the inside of the palace, the three continued the difficult battle. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan eventually separated, with the former master being knocked into a laser-filled hall. The wall-like lasers activated, trapping Qui-Gon, while Obi-Wan and Maul continued. Obi-Wan, striking at Maul, was blocked, and the two flipped in opposite directions. The two battled fiercely, and, at the right moment, chopped Maul's dual-bladed lightsaber in two, and Maul wielded both sides in an effort to defend himself. Maul, now wielding two lightsabers, proved to be more difficult than expected. Although the two delivered powerful blows, the Sith lord found the opportunity to force push Obi-Wan. The Jedi Knight fell backward, and slid off the edge of the bridge. His lightsaber slid off as well, plummeting into the darkness below. The lasers imprisoning Qui-Gon had vanished, and Qui-Gon dashed toward Maul. Qui-Gon and Maul clashed lightsabers, but as Maul reached with his other lightsaber to stab Qui-Gon, the old master parried the blow.

Obi-Wan jumped up, only to find his former master had sliced Maul in two, immediately silencing him. Shocked to see how Qui-Gon had rescued him from a near-death situation, Obi-Wan accepted his master's disappearance, claiming it was necessary to clear his mind. During this time, the Queen had captured Nute Gunray, and the planet's BRAVO team had destroyed the Trade Federation, rendering all droids useless. The Sith had returned after hundreds of years, only to be defeated once again. However, once the Battle of Theed had concluded, the weapon used by the master was given to the apprentice as a token of achievement, and the two parted ways once more.
