Memory Beta, the wiki for licensed Star Trek content.

Nomad (or Nomad MK-15c) was an interstellar space probe designed by Jackson Roykirk and launched from Earth in 2002 with a mission of seeking out new life. It was a prototype, and the only one of its type built.

In flight, Nomad was damaged by a meteor and lost contact with Earth. It later merged with an alien probe called Tan Ru, resulting in a powerful new machine which, due to scrambled programming, destroyed anything that was perceived as imperfect.

Nomad was rediscovered by the USS Enterprise in 2267, after it had destroyed the inhabitants of the Malurian system. Mistaking Captain James T. Kirk for Jackson Roykirk, Nomad allowed itself to be brought aboard Enterprise. There, it erased the memory of Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, and killed Lt. Commander Montgomery Scott -- although Nomad was able to then "repair" him. Eventually, Kirk managed to convince Nomad it was imperfect itself, and thus leading it to self-destruct. (TOS episode: "The Changeling")

Captain Anne Gauvreau claimed to have recovered other Nomad probes in deep space, which she in turn sold to the Smithsonian Institution. (TOS novel: Prime Directive)

As it is stated canonically that only one Nomad was built and launched, Gauvreau likely either misspoke, or misidentified her discoveries.

(Redirected to Fighting Challenge article)

From Dofus

The challenge system offers you the opportunity to increase your fighting gains (drops and XP) if you fulfill the set conditions. When a fight is started against a group of monsters, you will be given a challenge at random - two if you are in a dungeon or arena. It is completely optional - you can choose to either complete both, one or neither.

Challenges apply to all group members - each member must fulfill the set conditions for the challenge to be a success. Currently the possible challenges are:

Challenge Icon Description
Arachnophile Summon an Araknee each time the spell is available, for the duration of the combat.
Barbaric Do not use any spells for the duration of the fight.
Blitzkrieg Whenever an adversary is attacked, that character must be killed before their next turn begins.
Casino Royal Cast the spell Roulette each time the spell is available for the duration of the combat.
Clean hands Kill all monsters without dealing direct damage for the duration of the combat. Traps, glyphs, poisons, pushback damage, reflected damage as well as attacks by summons may all be used.
Contamination As soon as an ally loses HP, you have 3 turns to kill your ally.
Contract Killer Your enemies must be killed in the designated order. A new target will be selected each time the preceeding target has been killed.
Cruel You must kill your enemies according to their levels in ascending order.
Dodgy devs Finish this fight and you've won the challenge! It is well known that all devs are cheaters.
Duel When a character attacks an enemy, no other character must attack the enemy for the duration of the combat.
Elementary, my dear! Use the same element to attack for the duration of the combat.
Elitist All attacks must be made exclusively on Monster until they die.
Exuberant Use all your action points before the end of your turn.
First the mules The weasest mule must finish all enemies off (that'll teach you to 'mule' like a Lousy Pig).
Focus When an enemy is attacked, they must be finished off before any other enemy is attacked.
Gardener Plant a Cawwot each time the spell is available, for the duration of the fight.
Gravedigger Summon a Chaferfu each time the spell is available, for the duration of the fight.
Hermit Never finish your turn on a cell adjacent to an ally.
Impertinence Finish your turn on a cell adjacent to an enemy.
Incurable Do not regain any HP for the duration of the combat.
Keep moving! Do not steal MP from your enemies for the duration of the combat.
Limpwrist Never finish your turn on a cell adjacent to an enemy.
Low levels first! The player with the lowest XP must deliver the mortal blow to all enemies.
Maniac Enemies must be killed according to the descending order of their levels.
Mystique Use only spells for the duration of the fight.
Neither Piwi nor submissive Female players must let male players deliver the mortal blow to enemies for the duration of the combat.
Neither Piwin nor submissive Male players must let female players deliver the mortal blow to enemies for the duration of the combat.
Nomad Use all available MP during each turn, for the duration of the fight.
Pighead Use the same spell or close combat attack for the duration of the combat.
Protect the mules All your allies and all your mules must be alive at the end of the fight.
Reprieve Kill Monster last.
Scanty Each player must not use the same action more than once, for the duration of the fight.
Self Sacrifice Characters must not be healed during their turn.
Sharing Every character must finish at least one enemy (enemy summons do not count) off during the fight.
Sightseeing Do not reduce the range of any enemies for the duration of the combat.
Statue Every turn, finish on the same cell as you started on, for the duration of the fight.
Survivor No ally must die.
Tight Finish your turn on a cell adjacent to an ally.
Time Flies Do not steal AP from your enemies for the duration of the combat.
To each his pwn Each character must kill at least one enemy (enemy summons do not count) during the combat, Once a character attacks a particular enemy, no other character must attack that enemy for the duration of the combat.
Two for the price of one When a character kills an adversary, this character must kill one (and only one) more enemy during the enemy's turn.
Unpredictable All attacks must be made exclusively on the target selected by a character at each new turn.
Untouchable Do not lose any HP for the duration of the combat.
Unwilling Volunteer Kill Monster first.
Versatile Each player must not use the same action more than once, on every turn.
Zombie Use exactly one MP per turn.

Notes

Challenges requiring use of spells appear only if someone in the fight has the required spell (Roulette for Casino Royal, Cawwot for Gardener, etc.). Mob-size bonuses are calculated on the number of monsters minus 1.

Glyphs, poisons, and summons' damages and debuffs count as damage and debuffs done by the caster/summoner. This means they affect challenges such as To each his pwn and Keep moving!. Their HP does not count as part of your teams health, and so are unaffected by challenges such as Contamination, Untouchable and Survivor.

  • Blitzkrieg: Fails if you do pushback damage to an enemy but don't kill them before their turn. Does not fail if an enemy is damaged by their allies but not killed before their turn.
  • Clean Hands: Sadida's Paralyzing Poison causes this challenge to fail.
  • Contamination: Does not fail if you win the battle before the three turns are up. Does not fail if a summon loses health and three turns expires.
  • Contract Killer: Does not fail if you kill an enemy summon, no matter which enemy is the current target.
  • Elementary, my dear!: Does not fail due to different element damage done by summons. Does not fail due to damage done on allies or oneself.
  • Exuberant: Cannot fail on the winning turn; the final blow does not have to completely use up AP.
  • Focus: Non-damage spells do not fail. Fails if you hit an enemy summon after another enemy or summon has been hit. Will also fail if you hit another enemy after hitting an enemy summon.
  • Impertinence: Cannot fail on the winning turn; the final blow may be made while not adjacent to an enemy.
  • Limpwrist: Cannot fail on the winning turn; the final blow may be made while adjacent to an enemy.
  • Low levels first: All chars can kill enemy summons without the challenge failing. If lowest level is resurrected, that fails the challenge.
  • Neither piwi(n) nor submissive: All chars can kill enemy summons without the challenge failing.
  • Nomad: Can fail on the winning turn; the final blow must be made after the required amount of MP is spent.
  • Scanty: Does not fail by casting a spell which previously had a critical failure.
  • Sightseeing: Can fail if a Cra uses Magic Arrow, even if the hit kills the target before the effect takes place.
  • Statue: Can fail on the winning turn; the final blow must be made while standing in the correct cell. You must finish each turn in the same cell you started the turn in. This may be different from the cell you started the fight in, for instance, if you are pushed or thrown.
  • To each his pwn: Fails if you attack an enemy summon another player has attacked. Summons' attacks count as attacks from the summoner, and thus cannot attack an enemy that has been attacked by another player, but may attack an enemy that has been attacked by a summon of the same summoner.
  • Two for the price of one: If the enemies are killed during your turn, strictly two must be killed, or none at all.
    • If the enemies are killed after the player ends their turn (by poison, glyph, or summons) then only the maximum of two kills applies. You will not fail the challenge if only one enemy dies by summon, glyph or poison, but you will fail if three summons each kill one enemy, or three enemies die by glyph or poison before your next turn begins.
    • Be careful, as you may be left with one enemy, and will fail the challenge if you directly kill it as there is no other enemy to complete the challenge.
    • Killing two enemies and then having a summon/glyph/poison kill an enemy will result in failing the challenge.
    • Killing one enemy will fail the challenge as soon as you end your turn. So a kill done by poison/glyph/summon will not pair a kill during your turn.
  • Unpredictable: Fails if you attack an enemy summon.
  • Untouchable: Does not fail due to damage done by or on summons.
  • Versatile: Does not fail by casting a spell which previously had a critical failure.
  • Zombie: Can fail on the winning turn; the final blow must be made after 1 MP is spent. MP lost from drains or debuffs do not count. Moreover the challenge can also fail if you have no MP: you have to use 1 MP no matter what.
  • Unwilling Volunteer: Does not fail if you kill enemy summon first.

A detailed image of Nomad

Nomad is a non-player character who wanders around the Soul Wars minigame area. When players first arrive on the island, they will encounter Nomad and his imp familiar, Zimberfizz. Nomad will offer players a tour of the battlefield along with a short explanation, or a book that explains fighting in the Soul Wars minigame.

Nomad built the Soul Obelisk. He is the strongest NPC and the highest leveled quest monster in the game. He also appears to suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder, one minute being collected and calm, the next being maniacal and chaos craving.

Rewards

Nomad may reward players by exchanging Zeal points for:

  • Experience in Slayer or any Combat skill except Summoning. This amount varies upon your level in that skill. Saving 100 zeal points and spending them all at once will give a bonus to the experience received.

  • Other - Bringing Slayer monsters back from the dead as pets.

Nomad is a four-part story from Star Wars Tales. It is the saga of Darca Nyl, a wandering mercenary and takes place approximately six months after Episode I. It consisted of a four-part serial in Star Wars Tales 21, 22, 23, and 24. It was collected into a single 82-page comic for Star Wars Tales Volume 6.

Plot summary

A ship on a mission to return the deadly prisoner called Lycan to Coruscant crashes on the lands of Darca Nyl and he finds a dying Jedi Knight in the wreckage. The Jedi tells him of Lycan and gives Nyl his lightsaber. Nyl rushes back home and finds his son slain by Lycan, which causes Darca to pursue him.

Darca Nyl's pursuit leads him to a inhospitable, colonized planet in the Outer Rim Territories rich with ore, where he soon meets Samuel, the owner of the planet's mining facility. Samuel mistakes the lightsaber-wielding Nyl for a Jedi after he ends a conflict between Samuel's men and a boy accused of conspiring in the kidnapping of Samuel's daughter Leddar. Samuel reveals that Lycan has already left the planet a week earlier on a supply ship, but he asks Nyl to help return his daughter befor he tells him Lycan's destination. Darca Nyl accepts the deal and ventures with Samuel outside the facility in protective suits to find Ledd. After a brief fight they managed to disarm the kidnapper and rescue Leddar. Samuel finally reveals that Lycan was heading for Molavar.

Darca Nyl's pursuit is interrupted when the crew of the ship he is on turns against him. He manages to take care of them, but the ship crashes on an unknown planet. He soon meets a woman named Jaren and her brother Ament who he rescues from a man on a speeder bike. The siblings lie about their reason of being chased, but they tell Nyl he can find a freighter in their hometown. The following night Nyl's emotional difficulties finally catch up with him when Jaren shows him a trick: An image of his son in a campfire. Upon seeing the image he is compelled to face his feelings of guilt and rage. The next day, Ament leaves and doesn't return. Darca, while searching for Ament, finds a bear-like creature that attacks him. He ends up killing the creature with the lightsaber, but runs back to the campfire when he hears Jaren scream. Ament had returned and was killing a similar bear-like creature that threatened Jaren's life. It turned out that Ament was a murderer and that Jaren had helped him escape from prison. Ament suffered of guilty conscience and Darca Nyl took him and Jaren to the bikers who were chasing them earlier, who were able to show Nyl where he could get a ride to Molavar.

On Molavar Darca Nyl continues his pursuit of Lycan, who had wreaked havoc in a local casino. Lycan had taken a ship of one of the people he killed in the casino and landed in the middle of the desert and in order to reach it Nyl joins a convoy led by a Molavaran called Tooth.

Four days later Tooth's convoy finds Lycan's ship, and Darca leaves to pursue on his own. He is soon found by a moisture farmer named Byrom who's wife has just encountered Lycan in the desert. Byrom is troubled by a Molavaran gangster named Sleeth, whose mother is the reigning crime-lady of Malcraan. When Sleeth arrives to ask for protection money, Nyl chases them away and humiliates Sleeth. Darca wants to help defend Byrom, but Byrom insists that he continue his search for Lycan. Nyl leaves, and soon Sleeth's mother arrives to exact revenge. However, Darca returns with Tooth's convoy and Tooth forms an alliance with Byrom against Sleeth's mother. Darca leaves again in a borrowed landspeeder to pursue Lycan.

Almost a week later, Darca comes across Lycan in the desert and engages him in a fierce lightsabre fight. Darca rushes into a cave where he lays mines and awaits Lycan's arrival. Lycan enters the cave and overpowers Darca with his lightsabre. Lycan then interrogates Darca in order to try and restore his memory that he lost when the transport ship crashed. When Lycan remembers his name and purpose, he goes to kill Darca. Darca then sets off the mines, killing Lycan and allowing him to make his escape.
