Nigel Holmes was a male Human in Starfleet in the 24th century.

In 2332, Commander Holmes became first officer of the USS Enterprise-C, under Captain Rachel Garrett. The two became close friends during their service together, though the two never engaged in any romantic activities, as was rumored.

In late 2335 or early 2336, the Enterprise responded to a distress call from a transport ship threatened by Klingon pirates. Holmes volunteered to go aboard the transport vessel, and when the Klingons opened fire, Garrett was forced by regulations to rescue the transport crew ahead of her officer. Holmes was killed in the attack, and Garrett carried the guilt for his death for several months after.

Holmes was succeeded as first officer by Commander Samir al-Halak. (TLE novel: Well of Souls)
