A female and male necromancer

The Necromancer is a versatile class that focuses on manipulation of performance, health and energy of foes and allies, as well as their unique ability to exploit corpses for various uses, including animation of undead minions and creation of defensive and offensive wells. Many of the powerful Necromancer skills require a health sacrifice, which is uncommon among the other professions and requires special attention to their health, but is sometimes used to the player's advantage. The patron god of Necromancers is Grenth.

Blood Magic is powerful at manipulating health of both the player and his/her allies and enemies through sacrificing, life stealing, wells and redistribution of health. A Blood Magic Necromancer is also highly competent at keeping up allies' energy supply by use of Blood Ritual, Blood is Power or Well of Power.

Curses are considered the most insidious of the Necromancer's attributes, with the ability to punish, weaken, remove enchantments, and otherwise hinder the foes' performance. Much of a Necromancer's Curses arsenal is centered around the use of hexes and conditions, and often requires direct health sacrifice or inflicts degeneration and other conditions on the caster in exchange for a powerful blow to the opponent.

A focus on Death Magic will give the player the skills to disease and deal direct damage to foes, as well as the ability to exploit corpses to consume and explode them, summon undead minions and create wells.

The primary Necromancer's base armor provides 60 armor, +10 energy, and +2 energy recovery. A starting primary Necromancer begins with 30 base energy and 4 energy recovery.

The Necromancer's primary attribute is Soul Reaping, which provides energy whenever nearby creatures die, up to three times per 15 seconds. Though very few skills are linked to this attribute, its inherent effect gives the Necromancer a powerful way to recover energy in the heat of battle.

Common Usage

Energy-support Necromancers, often called "batteries" or "BiPs", use the skill Blood is Power to supply their allies with additional energy recovery. For casters such as the Elementalist and the Monk, this is extremely beneficial as it allows them to continue using their skills without running out of energy. Batteries are very popular for supporting bonder Monks and nuker Elementalists in areas like the Fissure of Woe.

Spiteful Spirit

A common Necromancer build that uses Curses to drain an enemy's health or inflict damage whenever any enemy attempts to attack or use skills. This build is centered around the elite hex spell Spiteful Spirit. This skill, as well as the build itself, is usually referred to as "SS." SS Necros can quickly cause high amounts of armor-ignoring damage to any group of enemies, be it spellcasters or attacking classes. SS Necromancers are often seen with 55 Monks: the 55 holds enemy aggro while the SS deals massive damage to the attacking foes.

Minion Masters

Often referred to as "MM", a minion master uses Death Magic to animate a small army of undead creatures from the corpses of fallen foes and allies alike. An army of these undead minions helps to alleviate the damage received by the party and inflict a large amount of damage back towards the opposition. When the corpse supply runs low, the minion master must rely on minion healing skills, like Blood of the Master, which require high health sacrifice. This may be dangerous to inexperienced players if they don't watch their health closely, because the death of their master will turn the entire army masterless, making them hostile to everything in sight, including the creator's allies. Certain skills, such as Barbs from the Curses line or Death Nova from the native Death Magic attribute, are sometimes used to increase the effectiveness of the army. MMs are particularly popular in PvE, due to the large number of corpses available. However, certain areas have very few "fleshy" creatures, usually rendering the Minion Master useless. Only the most skillful MMs may keep up their trade here by use of Jagged Bones, a skill very well used by minion master heroes.

  • Soul Reaping (primary attribute): For each rank in Soul Reaping, you gain 1 energy whenever a non-Spirit creature (friend, foe, or neutral) near you dies, maximum of three times for every fifteen seconds.
  • Blood Magic: With a flexible skill set, Blood Magic increases the effectiveness of spells dealing with damaging and stealing health from foes.
  • Curses: With a punishing skill set, Curses increases the effectiveness of hexes that reduce foes' effectiveness in battle.
  • Death Magic: With a skill set dealing with mastery of Death, this attribute increases the effectiveness of spells which animate undead servants, manipulate corpses and deal cold damage. With zero Death Magic you can control no more than two minions, plus an additional minion for every two ranks in Death Magic, for a maximum of ten minions at Death Magic rank 16.

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

This article is about necromancers in general, for the necromancer in the Necromancer Tower, see Necromancer (Monster).

A Necromancer is a studier of necromancy; talking to, and sometimes raising, the dead. They are usually followers of Zamorak, as the practice of necromancy is considered evil. The animation of undead such as Skeletons and Zombies are the usual fare for necromancers. After the Missing My Mummy quest, Senliten suggests that necromancy is a corruption of the mummification process, and was widely used by the Mahjarrat.

Quests Involving Necromancy

  • In RuneScape Classic, players had the ability to chose their class. One of the choices was to become a Necromancer, which gave players a higher starting level in Necromancy (the original Magic). Later when the class system was removed, all necromancers became Mages.
  • Some people have compared necromancy to Summoning, but according to Malignius Mortifer, the two have nothing in common.
  • According to Irwin Feaselbaum, necromancers can raise themselves from the dead.

From TibiaWiki

This creature is in the Humans class.

580 Hit points
580 Experience points per kill

Summon/Convince: --/--
Abilities: Melee (0-80) Poisons you for 0-8 hp/turn, Death Hit (10-120), Stalagmite (20-120), Fast Self Healing, Summons up to 2 Ghouls or Ghosts or Mummies.
Pushable: ?
Push Objects: ?
Est. Max. Damage: 260+ (580 with summons) hp per turn
Immune To: Earth, Drown, Invisibility
Strong To: Death (-50%), Energy (-20%)
Neutral To: Ice, Life Drain
Weak To: Physical (+5%), Holy (+5%), Fire (+5%)
Sounds: "Taste the sweetness of death!"; "Your corpse will be mine.".
Behavior: Necromancers distance themselves from their opponent, shoot a distance poison attack and summon undead creatures. They shoot less on you if you stand on distance than if you stand close.
Field Notes: Necromancers have really valuable items in their loot: Boots of Haste , Noble Axes and Skull Staffs. They have a weak defense so even knights are able to kill them with a litte limitation: their Death Hit works only if you stand next to them.
Location: All the Tombs, Lich Hell, Drefia, Medusa Shield Quest room, Hero Cave, beneath Fenrock and Magician Quarter.
Strategy: The most cost-effective way to hunt Necromancers is solo them for knight of level 60+ and paladin, mage or druid with level 40+. As they drop Boots of haste not so rare, you can count on a few pairs after 4-5 hours of hunt. The best way to kill Necromancer is just hit it with Fire or Ice Strikes until it dies, as fast as you can to avoid summons. Lower level druids or mages can summon demon skeleton or even 2, as it is much safer to make Necromancer retarget on it. While killing a few Necromancers at once, you should be careful, as they can surround you with the summons and hit from distance. The most effective way of killing Necro is at Necromancer Quest, which brings biggest benefit for levels 80+.

Higher level Knights (70+ approximately) can easily hunt these creatures after the Summer Update of '07. Just run up to them and melee them. Using Exura with Soft Boots will make you use very little Strong Health Potions or Great Health Potions, whichever you are using.

The same counts for Paladins, except that they have to stay at a distance and maybe run around to avoid being hit by it's summons.

If you are a 55+ Mage you can easily hunt necros solo by just using Strong mana potions, as you'll only need to use Flame Strike and exura. But be careful, if you run into a spawn with 2-3 necros they can summon a lot of minions and that could result in a lot of mana waste. Try to stand still and use Fire Wave cause they will keep exactly 4 spots distance from you which makes it easy to defeat up to 5 necros with a few waves.
Loot: 0-90 gp, 0-5 Poison Arrow, Short Sword, Scale Armor, Book of Necromantic Rituals, Green Mushroom (semi-rare), Strong Mana Potion (semi-rare), Clerical Mace (semi-rare), Mystic Turban (rare), Skull Staff (very rare), Spellbook of Warding (very rare), Boots of Haste (very rare), Noble Axe (very rare).
