Morning Edition is a two hour, weekday morning radio news program heard on National Public Radio. The series combines newscasts, interviews, and features on a variety of topics, from politics to the arts. Several Morning Edition segments have involved the Muppets.

Appearances

• November 14, 2002 - Bob Edwards provides a retrospective of The Muppet Show, prompted by Kermit the Frog's recent receipt of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Kermit himself was interviewed, and notes that Miss Piggy is unaware that she doesn't have a star yet, "but you know, I kinda doubt she listens to NPR somehow." Also interviewed, in pre-recorded segments, are Jerry Juhl, Jerry Nelson, Steve Whitmire, and Dave Goelz. [1]

• May 5, 2003 - Bob Edwards interviews Caroll Spinney about his career, performing Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch and his then-new book The Wisdom of Big Bird. [2]

• March 30, 2005 - Reporter Steve Inskeep hosts a segment on Sesame Street and its Healthy Habits for Life mandate against childhood obesity. Inskeep is joined in the studio by guests Rosemarie Truglio, Rosita, and Elmo for a discussion of the issue. The reporter notices that Elmo and Rosita are "sitting very close" to their friends Kevin Clash and Carmen Osbahr.

• May 9, 2005- Senior producer and puppeteer Barry Gordemer presents a tribute to Kermit the Frog, in honor of his 50th birthday. The history of Kermit, Jim Henson, and the Muppets was contextualized through discussion of Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. The segment included audio from Sam and Friends and The Muppet Show, and "The Rainbow Connection." [3]

• September 5, 2006 - Reporter Steve Inskeep talked with Kevin Clash about Elmo and his then-new book My Life as a Furry Red Monster. [4]
