Three Gotals

The Mission to Corellia was a mission carried out by Jedi Aayla Secura and Ylenic It'kla seven days after the Battle of Geonosis.

The mission

Mace Windu sent the two Jedi to find the scientist Ratri Tane, who possessed very valuable information.

Aayla and Ylenic arrived on Corellia and entered the Homestar cantina, where Aayla accidentally Force pushed an irritating Toydarian named Lorfo. This got the attention of three Gotals who were also looking for Tane.

A fight broke out between the Gotals and Jedi (leaving one of the Gotals dead), and the Jedi left the cantina, where Rostek Horn urged them to leave the planet. They were approached by Lorfo, who agreed to lead them to the Gotals' hideout for a few credits. When they arrived there however, they were ambushed by the two remaining Gotals and a Separatist under Count Dooku named Tendir Blue.

The Jedi dispatched Tendir and the Gotals, and soon discovered that Ratri Tane was actually Jedi Master Nejaa Halcyon. The Jedi then implanted a fake memory in the unconscious Tendir's mind that he had succeeded in getting the data, sending him on his way and successfully keeping the information from the Confederacy.

The Mission to Corellia was carried out by Jedi Master Kyle Katarn for the New Republic in the last weeks of the year 14 ABY.

Prelude

Since the beginning of the Dark Order War, Kyle Katarn had attempted to track down the Dark Jedi Jaden Korr several times, but each attempt ended in failure. Two weeks after the Imperial forces under Jaden captured Hanoon, he was contacted by mole in the Dark Order of Korr named Heglark Ress. Ress told Katarn to meet him at a specified cantina in the capital city of Corellia, where he will divulge information on Jaden's whereabouts as well as an offensive campaign that the Dark Order was about to begin. Hoping that the Dark Order War was nearing its end, Kyle traveled to Corellia to meet up with Ress.

The Mission

Katarn landed in Coronet and proceeded to the designated cantina without incident. Heglark was waiting for him and after they retreated to a less crowded area of the building, he produced an identification card to confirm that he was indeed a Republic spy. He then told Katarn that in his operations, he had learned that Jaden Korr was currently on the Imperial world of Bakura, where he was overseeing the industrial production of numerous factories on the planet surface. These factories were producing a currently unknown weapon which would be transported by an Imperial carrier ship, designated the Infector, across the galaxy and deployed on the surface of Republic planets. Although Ress did not know what the weapon was, he managed to compile (among other things) a partial list of planets that were planned to be attacked by the Infector and its fleet, in a campaign code-named Operation Dark Disease. Ress contacted the Jedi because he had been discovered by the Imperial Security Bureau and was stranded on Corellia while trying to escape. Although the neither the New Republic nor the Imperial Remnant had any direct presence on the planet at the time, he suspected that the Remnant would send mercenaries after him.

Since Heglark was discovered and Operation Dark Disease was reported as being ready to begin, he needed to reach New Republic Intelligence immediately. After this exchange, Katarn began to escort the spy back to his ship. While on the way, however, they were ambushed by a group of mercenaries hired by the Dark Order. Although Ress was wounded in the firefight, Kyle defeated the assassins and they reached the Raven's Claw without further incident.

In orbit before jumping to hyperspace, the Claw was attacked by a YT-1300 freighter, also hired to stop their escape. After a short dogfight, the freighter was damaged and forced to withdraw. The Republic spies then escaped soon after, their destination being Coruscant.

Aftermath

Unfortunately for Katarn, the Claw's hyperdrive system was damaged in the battle, and they dropped out of hyperspace not long after leaving the Corellia system. Because the ship's long-range communications were also off line, they were forced to head to Rendili on impulse power. Katarn estimated that they would reach Rendili within two standard days, at which point they would find passage to Coruscant, where Ress would get his information on Operation Dark Disease to Republic Intelligence. However, they were unable to reach Rendili before Coruscant was attacked.
