
Michael Landon (1936-1991) was an actor who first rose to fame as Joesph "Little Joe" Cartwright on the long-running Western series Bonanza, from 1959 until 1973. In 1970, for Sesame Street Season 2, Landon filmed several Sesame Street inserts with Bonanza co-stars Lorne Greene and Dan Blocker. He appeared with Greene in similar inserts for The Electric Company.
Prior to television stardom, Landon played the lead in the cult film I Was a Teenage Werewolf. After Bonanza, he starred on Little House on the Prairie (as Charles Ingalls) and Highway to Heaven (as Jonathan the angel), and produced and directed on both shows.
