Biography

Mercury was started in 1945 in Chicago and early-on, established themselves as a major label due to their fast-turnaround of pressed records. Mercury released records in all genres, but became especially known as a country label. In 1961, they were bought by Phillips, and later Polygram. This allowed them to control Casablanca, making Mercury move into a pop label exclusively. Later, they were bought by Universal and Island ended up absorbing them, disbanding the label and using the brand only for reissues.

Mercury was the innermost and smallest planet in the Solar System, orbiting the system's Sun once every 88 days. Physically, Mercury was similar in appearance to Earth's Moon as it was heavily cratered. It had no natural moons and no substantial atmosphere. It was not attacked during the Galactic Civil War, though the Confederacy of Independent Systems colonized it.

History

Battle of Mercury

A group of specialized anti-heat droids were sent to Mercury to colonize the heat world. The colony, unlike others, was not discovered or destroyed by the Republic, and was abandoned by the Confederacy of Independent Systems in 20 BBY, and was never set foot on again. The planet was only attacked by the Republic's droid guards, IG-95 droids, which were heat-resistant. They held a brief battle against the Confederacy, eventually being destroyed.
