Meatbag: Misc

Up to date as of February 04, 2010

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

"Retraction: Did I say that out loud? I apologize, master. While you are a meatbag, I suppose I should not call you as such."
"You just called me a meatbag again!"
"Explanation: It's just that... you have all these squishy parts, master. And all that water! How the constant sloshing doesn't drive you mad, I have no idea.
HK-47 and Revan

A meatbag was slang for an organic being used by droids. The assassin droid HK-47 would constantly refer to Humans and other sentients as meatbags. Darth Malak, Darth Revan's apprentice, was the first person HK-47 called "meatbag" after Malak asked what the assassin droid thought of him. Upon hearing this, Revan was so amused that he reprogrammed HK-47 to persist in using the designation for Malak (much to Malak's annoyance) and all other organics.

In addition, Durge called Jedi Knight Glaive a meatbag as he was decapitated by Asajj Ventress.

Occasionally, CIS battle droids called GAR clones "meatbags".

Conversely, HK-50 units use the term "organics", which an annoyed HK-47 deemed "unacceptable".

Behind the scenes

The character of Bender from Futurama oftentimes would refer to Humans as "meatbags." It is possible that BioWare's programmers and dialogue writers for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic were referring to Futurama when they had HK-47 use this term.

In the BioWare-produced Sonic RPG, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, the Dr. Eggman-produced robot and playable party member, E-123 Omega, refers to the party as "meatbags" once, probably a nod to the original use by HK-47, given the same developer made Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. He also says it after the end credits.
