Small array of weapons

The weapon equipment list in Final Fantasy VIII is the smallest of its kind in the Final Fantasy series (unless you count Final Fantasy X-2 where you don't equip weapons, since the weapon changes when you change Dresspheres), including the weapons equippable by people who are in your party for a short period of time. There is a total of 35 equippable weapons (13 if you discount the weapons that are upgraded versions of the original weapon).

Gunblades

Difficult to manage well and requiring a lot of skill. These weapons belong to Squall Leonhart and Seifer Almasy. All models of Gunblade have the distinction of having a 255% percent hit rate.

Squall's Gunblades

Weapon Image Cost Limits Description Items Required

Seifer's Gunblade

Weapon Image Cost Limits Description
Hyperion Hyperion N/A No Mercy, Demon Slice, Bloodfest, Zantetsuken Reverse This gunblade uses a semi-automatic pistol, resembling that of a Beretta, rather than a revolver as a handle and it also has a unique blade. Seifer uses it differently from Squall's gunblades, in a backhand slash rather than a forward one, although this may just be his fighting style and not due to any design mechanic of the weapon, and he also uses it with one hand rather than two. Due to a lack of mention in any source material involving gunblades it is unknown whether this is an actual model type or a custom designed model for Seifer's personal use.

Weapon Image Cost Description Items Required

Ulysses Ulysses 200G The Ulysses lacks style, but is a quality rifle with tremendous fire power. The inelegant design was necessary to absorb the powerful recoil after firing. An excerpt of this model is mentioned in the May Issue of Weapons Monthly Magazine. Steel Pipe x1, Bomb Fragment x1, Screw x2.

Fanmade Final Fantasy VIII Weapons

Blaster Edges

Silenced Tear

Silenced Tear

Rinoa's secondary weapon in Dead Fantasy can be folded against the arm when not in use and, when activated, can be unfolded and ready to launch within seconds. Like the Blaster Edges before it the Silenced Tear is fired from a wrist mounted launcher and will return to the wielder near the end of its flight ready to be fired again.

When unfolded the center of the disc can be junctioned with magical power in a similar way to Final Fantasy VIII's Junction System. In Dead Fantasy II, Rinoa junctions it with Holy magic and activates it when clashing against Ayane.

Gunblades

Vanishing Star

Vanishing Star

Rinoa Heartilly's primary weapon in Dead Fantasy. It possesses a revolver handle like Squall's gunblade but features a different blade with a white feather and the words Vanishing Star inscribed upon it. Upon further inspection, the Gunblade has two triggers (as noted on Monty Oum's deviant) and an actual gun barrel atop the weapon's blade, as well as exhaust port's on the blade itself, suggesting that it can be used as ranged weapon as well. On said gun barrel, the words All Existence Denied are inscribed: a direct quote of Ultimecia in Final Fantasy VIII
Shotgun Blade

Shotgun Blade

Dion Rogers' Rinoa is seen in concept art wielding this weapon. It possesses a Griever etching on the blade, which is identical in shape to the Revolver's blade. However, it possesses a shotgun handle instead of the Revolver handle.

Maverick
A Maverick in GTA Vice City.
Vehicle type: Civilian
Body style: 4-door helicopter
Capacity: 4 (pilot (driver) and 3 passenger)
Appearance(s): GTA Vice City
GTA San Andreas
GTA Liberty City Stories (in missions)
GTA Vice City Stories
GTA IV

The Maverick is a helicopter in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto IV. The Maverick has also appeared in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories but is not intended for the player to use.

Contents

Overview

The Maverick is based on the Bell 206L Longranger, but the GTA IV rendition features four blades on its main rotor, similar to the Bell 407, but retaining the body design of previous Mavericks (pre-release material such as television footage, suggests GTA IV's Maverick was originally intended to retain its two blade rotor).

Overall, the Maverick is a good choice of transport in GTA: Vice City, but GTA: San Andreas has many better options. In GTA IV, most helicopters are just variants of the Maverick, so for style go for a different variant (like a Helitours Maverick). However, for function, go for an Annihilator as it has weaponry and is the fastest helicopter in the game. Since GTA: Vice City, the police has their own version of the Maverick called the Police Maverick.

GTA Vice City — GTA Vice City Stories

In GTA Vice City, the Maverick is a fully accessible vehicle, available in quite a few places. It has a moderate maximum speed, can survive some damage, and it is the only helicopter that is available in a variety of colors. There is also another smaller two-passenger version dubbed VCN Maverick that is used by the Vice City News Network.

In GTA San Andreas, the Maverick is essentially the same helicopter, but with slightly altered handling, and a new sound. As in GTA Vice City, there is also a news helicopter version of the Maverick, the News Chopper, that can be seen flying along with the Police Maverick once the player reaches a 4-star wanted level.

In GTA: Vice City Stories, the Maverick is used in some missions. During the mission High Wire, a magnet is attached to the Maverick to act like a sky crane, which is not available outside the mission. Lance also owns one, which is seen occasionally in the game.

The Maverick in GTA: Liberty City Stories is not intended to be obtained by the player. However, it can be obtained by the player during the missions Calm Before the Storm given by Salvatore Leone[1] and False Idols given by Ned Burner[2]. The Maverick can be obtained more easily by using this trainer for the PSP version of the game. It is so fast that the camera zooms out when going at max speed. Moving the camera moves the helicopter (because the right analog stick was to alternatively control a helicopter in Vice City.) The blades are used of that of an AI-controlled Police Maverick, and the blades renders transparency incorrectly when they are viewed through the blades (i.e. trees.)

GTA IV

A Maverick in GTA IV.

In GTA IV the Maverick has been changed slightly, including new crash animations, new sound and better design, although it still remains similar to the previous Mavericks. In GTA IV, the Maverick is the only civilian helicopter, and it may be found at either Francis International Airport, some of the helipads or on skyscraper helipads, the Alderney Heliport above the Booth Tunnel or even during Brucie's Heli Ride activity. Since this is an unarmed helicopter (unless a passenger is shooting a weapon), this is not advised for chases or any fighting in general.

When the player unlocks Brucie's Chopper ability, or visits Higgins Helitours, the player can spot this humorous message on the "A" pillar while in the passenger seat: "This helicopter might crash but we really don't care if it does, refer to flight manual for help."

Variants

Locations

GTA Vice City

  • Roof of the Hyman Condo safehouse.
  • Roof of the Vercetti Estate after the mission Rub Out. If the Sea Sparrow is unlocked, there is a less chance of the Maverick spawning.
  • Uniquely-colored Maverick in the mission Loose Ends.

GTA San Andreas

GTA Liberty City Stories

GTA Vice City Stories

GTA IV

  • Alderney heliport, above Booth Tunnel
  • Backyard of a house in Westdyke, south of abandoned casino.
  • Roof of a skyscraper next to Star Junction. Roof can be accessed via a window-cleaner's lift on the north end next to Kunzite Street or by flying there using another helicopter.
  • On a helipad in front of a pumping station in Purgatory, along the waterfront.
  • On a fire station helipad in south-west Alderney.

Trivia

  • The Maverick made an appearance in Manhunt 2.
  • Even though is not meant to be obtained in Liberty City Stories, the controls from previous games still work.
  • On rare occasions in GTA IV, a Maverick will spawn flying with the colors of the Weazel Chopper 4, however, it is very difficult to obtain because shooting it down will cause it to explode. It is best to use a helicopter such as the Annihilator to knock it off balance with the rotors to that it lands, with the only damage being a missing main rotor blade, however this can easily be repaired with the Health Cheat Code.

They're actually both looking for characterization.
Let's see what you can see...

This article is in need of images.

This article is about the Unicron-allied Mini-Con. For distribution company, see Maverick Entertainment.
Maverick is a Unicron-allied Mini-Con from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Maverick is a member of the Aerial Extermination Mini-Con Team, and a personal attendant to Nemesis Prime. Staunchly loyal to Unicron's goals, this assassin strikes silently and unseen, like a ninja in the night. Unfortunately, while he absolutely despises his teammates, he can't do anything to them, so he suffers in solitary silence. [1]

Presumably, he also hates Mega Man X, and could own you if he were to fly his own alt mode.
