History

Massacre was an alien of unknown origin who traveled the galaxy, killing anyone he felt like just for fun. Occasionally he would take a hit for payment, but for the most part he seemed concerned with just going around killing for sport. The one exception he made was to an alien known as the Skimmer, who would tail Massacre and scavenge through the belongings of Massacre's victims. Massacre is known to have killed thousands of people across hundreds of worlds. He fought and killed Auron on a distant, alien world. Auron had tracked him down from an earlier encounter with help from Superman. After a brief fight with Superman, Massacre withdrew, promising to hunt him down soon. [1]

Massacre eventually came to Earth, arriving after the Fall of Metropolis. He first arrived in Metropolis, IL but soon found the right city with his prey. [2] Massacre toyed with Superman, beating him mercilessly while avoiding any hits from the Man of Steel. Superman soon realized Massacre could sense his nerve impulses and managed to overcome that handicap, putting a major pounding on Massacre. During an attempt to help Massacre, the Skimmer was fatally injured. Massacre quit fighting, taking the body of the Skimmer away. While he could have gotten him aid, Massacre let him die instead, delighting in thinking that the fight between he and Superman would now be sweeter as the Man of Steel was his enemy, not just his prey. [3]

Massacre never got the chance, however, as he was captured by the Tribunal, who managed to negate his powers (even his super strength) and put him on trial for genocide. Having been found guilty, Massacre was beaten to death by some of the families of his victims. [4]

Much later, Massacre would turn up alive and well and in the service to Maxima when she was fleeing before Imperiex. He briefly fought Green Lantern while Superman tangled with Maxima. When Superman mentions he saw Massacre die, Maxima responds "And I was at YOUR funeral..." She also mentioned that Massacre served only her then, which might imply he was reanimated and/or a clone of some sort. [5]

Massacre was still with Maxima when she led her forces to earth to fight against Imperiex and apparently perished (along with her) in the battle against the Destroyer of Galaxies. [6]

(Redirected to Falador Massacre article)

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

The Falador Massacre, also known as the World 111 Glitch or World 111 Massacre, was an extreme violation of the Bug Abuse rule that occurred on 7 June 2006 (Or 6th June 2006 in some parts of America, making it 6/6/06). It was a very infamous glitch which, when activated, allowed certain players the ability to attack other players. The glitch has since been fixed and most of the abusers banned.

Contents

The glitch

A bug abuser wearing a Green Party Hat he gained from the massacre.

The glitch occurred immediately after a house party hosted by the first player to achieve 99 construction. Many players attended and the lag inside the house became severe to the point at which the host was forced to boot all of the guests. This was when the glitch was exploited. The players that had been inside the combat ring at the time of the dismissal were then able to attack other players anywhere in the world. The victims could not retaliate unless they also exploited the glitch. The killing lasted almost an hour before Jagex Moderators were notified. The bug was not caused by the enormous amount of people in the house at the time of the expulsion, but rather by an error in the coding of the Construction skill. Before this glitch, other lag-related glitches gave players an "Attack" option anywhere in the world, however they were unable to actually attack other players. Of the hundreds present at the party, many were aware of the glitch, however only a few players decided to take advantage of it. Only one player gained fame from this massacre, who used mainly a whip and Ice Barrage. He began at the house portal, went to Falador, and slowly moved along the north path and then up to Edgeville, where he was finally met and disconnected by 'Mod Murdock'. He is now permanently banned and as a result no longer shows up on the RuneScape hiscores.

There was a group of players who were PKing in Lumbridge, using Ancient Magicks and preying on new and low leveled players. Their identities are unknown although several players have reported seeing them PK and being killed by them. They caused an uproar, and seeing that this glitch could be abused outside of Falador, they spread all over RuneScape.

The loss

There are no official records of item losses, bug abusers, or victims of the massacre. Most of the items dropped by the victims were not collected by the killers, but by other innocent players. The most well known of the items lost was the Green Party Hat stolen by the most famous of the bug abusers (see picture to the left).

Smaller massacres

A number of players have claimed to have also abused the glitch; what follows is a list of reported abusers.

Another player also abused this glitch for his personal gain, but his followers encouraged him to kill the macroers. Hyped by the crowd, he did kill many macroers and was amongst the players that were banned. A separate player also killed several macroers. Although later he admitted to Jagex Moderators that he had attacked real players and earned over 100m, Jagex did not ban him. Another player used the glitch to kill 3 other players whom he had a personal vendetta against near Mudskipper Point. Although there is little proof of this happening a few people reported that they saw him attacking a player by using range.

In Seers' Village, a player using the glitch equipped a Rubber Chicken and began to attack people, dealing damage. A player posted on the forums about this person, which led to Seers becoming overpopulated (the thread was soon hidden by a forum moderator). The Rubber Chicken wielder chased a player over to Catherby and followed him to a house upstairs. At this time, the glitch was fixed, and the player logged out. No players were killed in the process.

Another massacre happened when a level 40 was attacked by a player near lumbridge. Luckily, no one was killed because the victim logged out.

Aftermath

The bug was fixed and most of the attackers were permanently banned. Mod Peter himself apologised to the victims who were attacked from this glitch, but no items were recovered. The players in the 'fake massacre party' were not banned, as they didn't use the glitch, and were just scaring away the players (which was considered highly controversial in players' opinions). The player who hosted the house party was later permanently banned for reasons unrelated to the glitch, specifically real-world item trading.

The event was heavily publicised with sensational videos spreading across the internet, showing the frenzied crowd of spectators encouraging one of the bug abusers to kill. The event is regarded as one of the most significant events of the RuneScape community, alongside events such as the party hat duplication glitch, Pay to Pk Riot and Wilderness Riot.
