Career
Occupation: scientist
Assignment: astrobiologist, USS Enterprise (2260s)
Insignia: Uniform sleeve.

Mason was a 23rd century Human individual who served Starfleet's sciences division, specializing in the field of astrobiology.

In 2268, Mason was assigned to Federation starship USS Enterprise. He was one of the crewmen selected for a theoretical landing party to survey planet Alpha Carinae II. Mason was selected by both the M-5 computer and Captain James T. Kirk for the team, based on prior experience surveying 29 biologically similar planets. (TOS novelization: The Ultimate Computer)

In TOS episode: "The Ultimate Computer", the scene where Mason's name was mentioned had the name Phillips in its place. This change was presumably derived from a revision of the script supplied to novelist James Blish.

Mason is Louis Salvatore's right hand man in 2241.

Contents

Background

Standing outside of his employers room, Mason carefully guards it and prevents anyone from entering, unless requested by Louis. He is a powerfully built middle-aged man with a receding hairline, who loves Mr Salvatore and would miss him terribly, should the old man kick the bucket.

Interactions with the player character

While the player must go to Louis to receive each mission, it is Mason who briefs you on the details, a practice unique to the Salvatores. Additionally, when going to oversee the desert transaction, Mason can give the Chosen One some energy weapons training, if Louis Salvatore agreed to give the player a laser pistol.

If the player insults him too many times, he will attack, and all the Salvatores present in the building will also turn hostile.
