In the theology of Ancient Rome, Mars was the God of War. He is an analog to his Greek counterpart Ares. During the "War of the Gods", the sorceress Circe invoked the gods of both the Roman and Greek pantheons and manipulated them into waging war against one another for supremacy of the heavens. Mars fought with Ares in the latter's own domain Areopagus. With each blow, the spirit of warfare strengthened each combatant and their battle intensified. Before long however, even Ares realized how fruitless such an endeavor was at the conclusion of the War of the Gods, the Roman pantheon disappeared.
