A machete is a large cleaver-like cutting tool. The blade is typically 50–60 cm (18–24 in) long, usually with a thin blade under 3mm thick. The machete is normally used to cut through thick vegetation such as sugar cane or jungle undergrowth but it can also be used as an offensive weapon. As a weapon, the machete has made several appearances in WildStorm Productions licensed properties, Friday the 13th and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The Machete is a simple, plain and guardless sword that is the Collector and Weaponsmith sword skin available in the Nightfall campaign. It shares this skin with the Steelblade Machete.

Dye affects the whole sword with the design above the guard and the grip dyeing to the color applied. The blade itself is tinted to varying shades of gray. The exceptions to this are black and white dyes which dye the whole sword to the color applied. It is dyed yellow by default.

From Grand Theft Wiki

The icon in GTA: Vice City
A Machete.

The Machete is a relatively powerful and fast melee weapon in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. When a pedestrian is struck and not killed with the machete it produces a larger blood trail than the Meat Cleaver. The machete is a generally good all around choice for your melee slot in the absence of the Chainsaw. The Machete is styled not after the usual Brazilian straight-grip, large blade variety used for clearing brush, but the British Gurkha and Indian Gorkha Regiment's Khukri fighting knife, which is a fearsome weapon in and of itself. In it's "stories" renditions, the HUD icon and the in-game version for the machete looks a lot like a lengthened knife.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

  • The Machete in this game is unobtainable outside missions and can only be found in the hands of criminals during the Vigilante side mission. A Yakuza gang member is also seen using this weapon during the mission Cash in Kazuki's Chips but there's no way to keep it because the player switches to a Katana automatically later on in the mission.

Deleted Material

Machete is part of the Deleted Material cut from the Halo series.

When developing Halo: Combat Evolved, Bungie faced numerous prototypes during the pre-production and considered cutting down to a certain number of objects for the final bit of Halo: Combat Evolved.

As such, many aspects of the story such as vehicles, gameplay, design, and story elements didn't make it into the final version of Halo: Combat Evolved.

  • A possible reason for the Machete not being in the Halo games was that you would be using a sword on enemies wearing strong armor. If you were to strike them, logically, the sword would just bend, or even break, unless it was made of titanium or carbon.

  • It is possible that the Brute Shot's blade was Bungie's modest way of compensating for the machete's deletion.
  • The Energy Sword was probably going to be the Covenant counterpart of the Machete.
  • It could also be a variant of the Combat Knife.

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

The Machete is a members-only item used in the Woodcutting skill. It can be obtained either from the Karamja and Shilo Village general stores, trading with another player, buying from Rasolo north of Ardougne, or from looking in Radimus Erkle's cupboard in the Legends' Guild. The machete can be used as a weapon but is primarily used to cut Jungle during the Tai Bwo Wannai cleanup minigame. It has no requirements to wield though cutting Light, Medium, and Dense jungle requires 10, 20, and 35 Woodcutting to harvest respectively. A machete is also required to gain access to Kharazi Jungle. A machete can be used to cut the roots of evil trees (effectiveness unknown).

You can also obtain opal, jade and red topaz machetes, which have a progressively higher speed at chopping down the jungles. To obtain these machetes, you can buy them from Gabooty in Tai Bwo Wannai, or speak to Safta Doc and make an exchange with him.
