Background

During your escape from Vault 101 you can find a file on the Overseer's computer which states that Anne Palmer, her daughter, was team leader of a scouting party that left the Vault to explore the outside world in February 2241.

Amata Almodovar and Old Lady Palmer engage in small talk about the room's decorations. She drops hints that connect to the fact the vault has not always been sealed shut and at one point when talking to her, she apologizes for her "rambling" after complaining about the Overseer's "rules" and "secrets". She then goes on to say "Why, I have half a mind to just up and tell you..." and also speaks of dad "arriving" which would obviously lead on to the secret that the Lone Wanderer was never born in the vault.

She also hints that Vault 101 used to be more crowded. This could be that when she was younger, the gross population of Vault 101 was much higher. Or that, as you find out later in the game, Vault 101 was not always sealed and that the doors were open. Perhaps traders and the like used to frequent Vault 101 often.

Relationships

She is the mother of Anne Palmer and grandmother to Jonas Palmer[1]. She is friendly with the Lone Wanderer.

Interactions with the player character

On July 13, 2268, Old Lady Palmer celebrates the Lone Wanderer's tenth birthday party in the Cafeteria. This is at least the second birthday party she has celebrated for the Lone Wanderer. Old Lady Palmer gifts the Lone Wanderer with a sweetroll.
