Final Fantasy X

Yuna stopped by Luca on her pilgrimage for three reasons. One, it was the closest mainland port from Kilika; two, Wakka and the Besaid Aurochs were going to play in the Blitzball tournament; and three, Tidus might know someone since he was a blitzball player. In the end, he did actually see someone he knew: Auron.

After arriving at Luca, Tidus (and the player) is introduced to Grand Maester Mika and Maester Seymour Guado. It is during Seymour's speech that he notices Yuna for the first time.

Before the Aurochs' opening Blitz match against the Al Bhed Psyches, Yuna is kidnapped by the Al Bhed who tell the Aurochs to forfeit the game if they want her back. The ransom is really just a ploy; this is actually the first instance the player sees of the Al Bhed practice of kidnapping Summoners to stop them sacrificing themselves.

After leaving Luca, the Save Spheres now link you to play Blitzball at almost anytime. Also Auron joins your party after leaving Luca.

Final Fantasy X-2

Luca does not play a major part in the main plot of Final Fantasy X-2, although YRP can find some items of value there. Throughout the course of the game, there is a TV interview, a Sphere Break tournament, and a new blitzball season (although you only manage the team this time).

In both games, the Luca Theater is a place where the player can buy and view or listen to spheres of movie sequences or themes throughout the game.

Treasure

  • Wakka's Celestial Weapon, the World Champion, can be received from the bartender at the Luca Cafe, however she will not hand it over until the Aurochs have won enough games.
  • The Jupiter Crest needed to upgrade the World Champion is found in the Blitzball locker room, inside one of the lockers. The Jupiter Sigil can be won as a Blitzball prize after first winning all of Wakka's Reels.
  • The Jecht Sphere for Auron's Overdrive is also located in the locker room.
