LootShare is an entirely optional way for players, and their clan members, to share monsters' item drops in multi-combat areas. This was introduced on 16 October 2007.
In order to turn on LootShare, a player must be in a Clan Chat in which the owner has enabled LootShare. Then, click the icon of two money bags in the top right corner of the Clan Chat menu. After a two-minute wait, LootShare will be enabled.
No matter how much damage the player dealt to the monster, if they are in the clan's LootShare, and they are within 16 squares of the defeated monster, then they will automatically be considered for rewards. The sharing of items is fair, and is designed to ensure that everyone receives an equivalent amount of luck with their rewards over a period of time. It works by calculating the value from the Grand Exchange. Then, each player gets a share of that value commonly called "Lootshare Potential" or LSP. The system chooses which player receives the drop, and that player pays for it with LSP. This reduces the player's chance of getting the next drop, ensuring fairness.
All members in the clan must have LootShare on.
Contrary to popular belief, the Ring of Wealth does NOT affect drops while LootShare is on.[1] The chances of getting a drop increases every time someone else in a clan gets a drop. In this manner, lootshare points may be accumulated over time, but are automatically reduced by 10% per day. [2]
The worlds available for "LootShare"-ing are: 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 22, 28, 29, 30, 33, 34, 37, 39, 40, 41, 43, 44, 46, 47, 48, 51, 52, 56, 59, 64, 76, 84, 85, 88, 91, 92, 94, 95, 97, 98, 106, 108, 112, 113, 117, 120, 126, 127, 131, 134, 142, 145, 151, 153, 154, 155, 157, and 158.
