From Final Fantasy Wiki
The following is a list of equipment the player's character can wear in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Weapons and Armor are usually found, but can sometimes be bought from certain people. The player can cycle through their Weapons at any time by pressing L or R, even in battle.
Weapons
The attack strength of Sword, Axe, and Claw weapons increases as the player levels up. Bomb weapons have set strength and do not become stronger.
Swords
Sword-type weapons can be used to hit switches on the overhead map.

Battle power is 47 and the player's speed is increased by 5. Found in the Ice Pyramid. |
| Excalibur |
Battle power is 127, and the player's speed is increased by 5. Found in Pazuzu's Tower. |
Axes
Axe-type weapons can be used to chop down trees and other obstacles on the overhead map.
Claws
Claw-type weapons can be used to climb up and down some walls on the overhead map and the Dragon Claw can also be used as a grappling hook to swing over large gaps.

Battle power is 37 and inflicts Poison, Paralyze, Sleep, Confusion, and Blind. Found in the Mine. |

Battle power is 80 and inflicts Poison, Paralyze, Sleep, Confusion, Blind, Stone, and Silence. Tristam gives the player this weapon in Aquaria. |
Bombs
Bomb-type weapons can be used to destroy obstacles on the overhead map and the Mega Grenade can be thrown from a distance to destroy obstacles. Bombs have high power but hit all enemies, lowering their effectiveness. They have limited ammo and additional ammo is sold in towns. Up to 99 bombs can be carried at once.

Battle power is 112 and is a bomb-type attack. Phoebe teaches the player to use these in Falls Basin. |

Battle power is 162 and is a bomb-type attack. A man in Fireburg teaches the player to use these. |
NPC Weapons
NPC weapons are weapons that are used only by the player's allies and cannot be equipped by the player. Kaeli is not listed, as she uses the Axe and the Giant's Axe during her travels with the player.

Battle power is 20 and is a shoot-type attack. Phoebe uses this weapon after giving the player the Cat Claw and it has limited ammo. |
Armor
Unlike most other Final Fantasy games, characters automatically equip the strongest armor piece available for them. However, each armor piece is in every way superior to the last, so using inferior pieces would be irrelevant.

Defensive power is 14 and speed is increased by 5, evade by 14, and strength by 2. The shield also resists Paralyze and Petrify. Found in Doom Castle. |
