The Legion (Volume 1) was an ongoing series published between 2001 and 2004 featuring the eponymous Legion of Super-Heroes. After its two ongoing predecessors Legion of Super-Heroes (Volume 4) and Legionnaires (Volume 1) were cancelled, two miniseries were published by new creators to the franchise Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning: Legion Lost and Legion Worlds. The Legion resumed ongoing publication of the Legionnaires. It was cancelled in 2004, when Teen Titans/Legion Special #1 rebooted the franchise, and created a third and entirely separate Legion of Super-Heroes. Cancellation of The Legion was followed by a new series, Legion of Super-Heroes (Volume 5).
