Laszlo was a stagehand at the Laurenzi Theatre in New York City, and the boyfriend of Tallulah. Pig slaves ambushed him while backstage in the theatre and took him to be changed into one of them by the Daleks. He escaped the Cult of Skaro before the process could be completed and therefore, unlike the other slaves, was capable of intelligent speech.

He helped the Doctor against the Daleks, and some time later he was very sick and could barely stand as his body deteriorated, pig slaves have limited lifespan and so Laszlo was dying. The Doctor managed to renew his lifespan to that of a human, and Laszlo went on to live at Hooverville with Tallulah and still remained incurable as a half-pig.
