Notable features Brother to Victoria

Lachtopher wanders the northern part of Lumbridge, usually outside the General store. He is the good-for-nothing brother of Victoria who once lived on the east side of the River Lum until goblins invaded his house. It is presumed that his house was closest to the border gate of Al Kharid. The other one was most likely house of Lozar, due to the population of goblins in that house.

Jagex may have included Lachtopher in the game as a way to satirise players that beg, and to show new players that begging is not a good way to make money, as they may face criticism.

He is the first NPC to talk to in the Cryptic Clue Fest of the 2009 Thanksgiving event. You must have 3 ropes, 2 buckets, and 5 bananas to progress in the event.

Attack of the goblins

Lachtopher is Victoria's brother. He used to live on the east side of the River Lum until goblins attacked Lumbridge, forcing him to move to other side of the river. Victoria decided to take Lachtopher into her house for a couple of weeks, as her mother always taught Victoria to be understanding and kind. He has stayed there ever since.

Learning the Ropes

Lachtopher claims to be super-brave if you talked to him during the short-lived quest version of the tutorial. He had tried to borrow some money from Sir Vant, but was turned away. Lachtopher thinks that Sir Vant is unreasonable and is certain that he has lots of gold obtained from all the monsters that he has killed.

Lachtopher has lived in Victoria's house for quite a while now and shows no intention of leaving, or even finding another place to stay in. He occupies the ground floor of Victoria's house.

  • On the first day RuneScape High Detail came out, most of the new non-player characters in Lumbridge were unable to speak or have any dialogue when they were talked to. Speech was added the next day.
  • At the end of a dialogue, the player will say: "I think I'll call you Lazy Lachtopher from now on." However, the player's character will not call him that.
  • His name is a pun of "latch off her" to say that he uses his sister's belongings instead of gaining his own.
  • Lachtopher is similar to the Dutch word "slachtoffer", meaning victim.
  • On 17 September 2009, Lachtopher was one of several characters removed from the game[1] along with the addition of Unstable Foundations and the Lumbridge re-work. However, he was re-added to the game on 23 November with the unofficial release of the 2009 Thanksgiving event.
